Its important I go so it hasn't been cancelled. It involves close contact with myself and my consultant. I'm very anxious about coronavirus. Can't stop worrying!!

Is it just a check up? I phoned my hospital on the morning and they said the Dr would just give me telephone call.

Hannah021 · 25/03/2020 21:44

Dont stress, if they think there is a chance u might be at risk they would have cancelled. Maybe not all hospitals have CV?

Lottiebugz22 · 26/03/2020 06:41

Yes it's a follow up.

The majority of routine appointments have been cancelled or changed to phone appointments.
The chances are that the place will be practically deserted.
I am currently self isolating, but when I was venturing out, I found wearing gloves really helped to remind me not to touch my face.
The doctor will be very, very careful about hygiene.
When you get home, change your clothes, have a shower.
I am high risk, but I am confident that I am taking all effective precautions and that helps.
I hope your appointment goes well.

Dp has to go for a scan tomorrow and we are worried. I am taking him (he doesnt drive) so he doesnt have to use public transport and waiting outside.

He needs it as they are monitoring an issue that maybe causing fluid on his brain. If it's not a positive outcome he need made surgery asap. We are both quietly stressing about him attending and what it means if theres a bad outcome.

He has his appointment to have a hearing aid fitted cancelled, which was disappointing but understandable. But we have been told the scan is classed as essential.

The hospital have assured us that he actually need minimal contact and they can do it without, anyone, getting too close to him (CT scan)

In our hospital they are doing a lot of the appointments (ones that haven’t been cancelled) by video link. So you and the dr are in a joining rooms for any discussion. If examination is needed they come in for that, no talking allowed to reduce risk, then back to the video link for the rest of the discussion. It’s a bit disjointed but seems to be working ok.

Lottiebugz22 · 26/03/2020 08:27

Yeah it's a examination. I'm going to be very vigilant. It's more so the fact of going into the hospital and possibly being exposed to coronavirus. Like a previous poster said they wouldn't let me go if there was risk so I'm holding on to that.

I'm currently an inpatient at a hospital (not CV ) and it's all carefully managed . It's probably less risk here than all the busy supermarkets . Everyone is extremely mindful of distance unless absolutely required.

Thank you. These responses are making me feel so much better.

My friend had a recent hospital appointment he had to attend. He said that it was very quiet in the area he visited and that there were cleaners disinfecting chairs etc as soon as anyone moved. He was reassured by how careful they were being.

Jourdain11 · 26/03/2020 08:58

I was in Outpatients yesterday, op and it was deserted - honestly! They were checking temperatures and asking about Covid19 symptoms before they even let you in, and lots of cleaning going on. I honestly think you're probably safer in a hospital than almost anywhere else at the present time...!

ShanghaiDiva · 26/03/2020 09:07

I took my mum yesterday and it was empty. I phoned beforehand and they said outpatients appts were going ahead as normal.
There were social distancing measures in place eg seating and at reception.

Lottiebugz22 · 26/03/2020 21:50

I've been today and of course I'm terrified now. 😰
