Are you allowed to go for a walk as a family?

So confused about the rules, hoping someone brighter than me can help!

Are we able to go for a walk together as a family? (Just those in our household, 4 people)

yes

PrincessSarene · 25/03/2020 15:16

Yes, that’s fine. You can leave the house once a day for exercise, and if you live together you can go out together.

Panicmode1 · 25/03/2020 15:18

Yes, but stay 2m apart from everyone!

lilgreen · 25/03/2020 15:19

YES! Do you not watch the news?

rbe78 · 25/03/2020 15:28

@Panicmode1 2 metres away from other people who are out and about, but not from your household members!

TheOrangeFox · 25/03/2020 15:29

Only if those family members live with you. If you're meeting up with non-household family members, it's 2m apart.

diddl · 25/03/2020 15:33

Yes, but depending on where you are going, it might be considerate to do two lots of two if possible as the whole point is surely to have as few people out & about as possible at any one time?

Lifesavesocialdistance · 25/03/2020 15:39

Yes, it's fine.

Go out and walk before we get locked down further...

Vitamin d, fresh air....

Crystal87 · 25/03/2020 15:51

Yes you can. We just went to the park for an hour and let the kids run around on the grass. It's fine as long as you keep away from others.

People on other threads are saying it's considerate to all go at the same time so you aren't exposing yourself and others to more people.

You shouldn’t be meeting up with non household family members, I thought. You can bring food etc to them if vulnerable but not meet them out and about.

" it's considerate to all go at the same time so you aren't exposing yourself and others to more people."

True, hadn't thought of it that way.

I was thinking of making social distancing as easy as possible-although of course that might not even be an issue where Op is/will be walking.

Greenpop21 · 25/03/2020 16:40

I think it’s best to go separately. It’s quite difficult to avoid groups on paths. Also, we all need some me time, alone.

Panicmode1 · 25/03/2020 17:07

@rbe78 - would have thought that was obvious but perhaps it wasn't!

Kelsoooo · 25/03/2020 17:08

You can indeed.

We went to the park for an hour - all the play equipment was shut, but we took a ball and had a kick around.

Backfired on me - husband finally saw how I am with a ball haha
