Parliament closing. Does that mean no changes?

Does it mean we're stuck as we are?

As in, no further lockdown rules?

It is odd, isn't it?

I mean, I can understand if they were all going to be wfh, but to actually call it a recess, at this exact time, seems bizarre....

Presumably the civil service will all still be grinding on, though...

Helenj1977 · 25/03/2020 13:27

It's like they're saying good luck, we're off to self isolate and leave you all to it.

No Parliament means no new laws. But plenty of old laws and the new emergency legislation for the govt. to use. Notably the Civil Contingencies Act which could see the lot of youse locked up if BJ deems it prudent.

It’s just bring planned recess forward by a week or so. Means less pressure on those who work in Parliament and the amount of Parliamentary work generated for civil servants so seems like a good call.

The legislation is already in place if Government need to take further measures

Thank you.

That's put my mind at rest x

Further lockdown rules are not necessary, despite what the little Hitlers on here want.

The SS certainly wouldn't have had any trouble recruiting people to spy on their neighbours from mumsnet.

@StormyClouds They've already filled up several informant's notebooks with "intelligence" and can't wait for the reeducation camps to open! 🤣😭🤮
