If you're still seeing groups outside where do you live?

I live on a popular walking route to the town centre and the park. Usually on a day like today there would be lots of groups of young people walking past, which I gather is still a problem in some places.

Honestly, I haven't seen a group of young people all week. Only couples or parents with their children. There's a teenage lad doing wheelies up and down the road atm but he's on his own and that's allowed.

The only slight deviance from the advice I've seen is that there still seem to be a lot of older people going out daily with their shopping bags, when advice is that they should stay home. Plus Angry my Dad's just been round. I waved through the window and refused to open the door Grin

And yes, I have spent a lot of time people watching, what else is there?!

Just been round my local inner city park. Surprisingly quiet. No groups whatsoever. Not many young people. Mostly single joggers and old people out for a walk. Everyone stepping aside, moving to the edge of the path etc to keep social distance. Very pleasing to see.

JonHammIsMyJamm · 25/03/2020 11:56

No. The roads and pavements are very quiet where I am. I live in a (usually) busy area.

EachandEveryone · 25/03/2020 11:58

Ive also seen elderly couples with their shopping trolleys. Its hard.

I live opposite a grocers so it's still busy where I am, busier than usual because they've got more customers now.

But the staff barricade themselves inside every day and serve from the door.

So all the idiots MNetters have been complaining about don't live near them?

OP posts:
yatapina · 25/03/2020 13:20

Not idiots as such because for all I know they could be brothers or just loving in the same household but I saw the police speaking to 3 young teens this morning who were walking along with 2 dogs.

Couldn't hear what was said as I was in the kitchen but I did wonder if that's what they were being spoken to about!

I'm in the Highlands.

yatapina · 25/03/2020 13:21

*Living in the same household rather 😳

The exercise of choice round here seems to be to walk/cycle to the little bridge out the back of my house and then stand on it for ages.

Two blokes have been out there at least two hours, having a chat two meters away from each other.

Two younger blocked earlier stood there for about an hour drinking beer, they started off 2m apart but gradually got closer until they were side by side. All the other dog walkers/cyclists/strollers/runners are zig-zagging across the bridge trying to stay away from all the bystanders.

It's normally deserted apart from the odd dog walker.

Older couple spent a good 20 mins standing in the car park just staring at the back of our row of houses.

There's a group of builders working on the house renovation opposite me.

GoldenKirst · 25/03/2020 13:29

Not gathering outside but a lot of people on my street still have family visiting! I just don't understand what people aren't getting?!

hamsterchump · 25/03/2020 13:41

@GoldenKirst You're right, they probably never realised they were living next door to a nasty little busybody! Are you so perfect? How do you know they aren't providing essential food/medicine/care or help? Mind your own business.

Pishposhpashy · 25/03/2020 13:42

London. Large group of men exercising in the park.

Makeitgoaway · 25/03/2020 13:44

I think some people are struggling with the idea that "household" is not the same as "family".

Not being able to have a cuppa with my parents is actually one of the hardest bits and I know they will be missing it. To think I used to make excuses not to go! (My Dad makes Victor Mildrew look cheerful Grin )

Dh and I had a chat shout with the neighbour across the cul de sac. They were gardening and I was unloading groceries.
Dh noticed a small family having a walk across the bottom of our street and two bike riders.
When I went for groceries the town was very quiet it was early I got there about 9 ish. We even drove home along the Prom, usually loads of people, but very few today, mostly dog walkers or an occasional bike

Ginfordinner · 25/03/2020 14:20

There were groups of people in the Barnsley area and surrounding towns this weekend.
