Advice needed please.
Work in a large NHS Trust in an admin role. Not patient facing. I have a work laptop and it is enabled so that I can work remotely. I am still being told to come in for staff morale and to create a sense of unity for those members of staff who cannot work from home.
I am feeling incredibly upset and anxious but keep being told that because I am in an office and not patient facing I am of no risk. Bearing in mind I still have to walk through the hospital building to reach my office and again to use the toilet, go for lunch etc.
AIBU to be frustrated that I cannot work from home, my husband suffers with asthma and I am frightened about picking something up and taking it home to him. I feel like nobody is taking me seriously.

Given government have said anyone who can work from home should I think they are completely wrong to ask you to come in. I would remind your manager of the government requirements regarding home working where at all possible.

One thing you could do is reduce the number of times you leave your office for non essential reasons, eg, take lunch in with you.

But yes, I understand your dilemma - and being surrounded by all those brilliant NHS workers who society is relying on to keep as many people alive makes it difficult for you to insist on your right to self isolate.

I am bringing in lunch but they haven't relaxed the rules on office eating, we have to leave our desks to eat. They have however made the meeting room into a second staff room so their is more space in between people. Although with over 60 staff in the department, this is still not abiding by the Government set rules.
My manager has been very unapproachable when I have tried to bring up the subject and keep reiterating the issues about unity and staff morale - I get it, some NHS workers aren't lucky enough to be able to work from home. However, if I pick something up in the hospital and pass it on to my at risk DH, that is another person who will add to the strain. Its a difficult one!

I feel quite cross that the NHS, of all employers, are failing to follow the very clear government instructions to work from home if at all possible.
