Shop deliveries

Is anyone ordering on-line?

Argos, clothes shops, electrical stores etc... Their on-line stores are all open but I'm conflicted...

If nobody buys anything, some stores will go under. If we do, someone has to be out and about delivering it.

What are your thoughts?

(Sorry if there are threads already on this exact thing- the search function on the MN app is crap!)

I have done some orders, there will still be things we need. I had a tablet delivered today, tomorrow some printer cartridges should come.

I work in mail distribution. Traffic is well up. Almost like Christmas!

Lots of paddling pools. Parents must be bored of home schooling already.

Next has stopped all online shopping.

I'm spending far less money than usual. Most of my clothes are going unworn in the wardrobe.
Shows how few clothes are actually needed when you aren't at work!

I have done a few Amazon orders, but have only added something frivolous if also ordering something 'essential'. It's hard though isn't it, I don't know, stuff arriving through the post in theory stops people going out as much; but then most of it we probably don't need.

SimonJT · 27/03/2020 07:17

I have ordered a few bits that are arriving today.

Balcony boxes
Compost
Seeds
Net for balcony (we keep losing our footballs)
Those velcro tennis racket things
Skittles
Cones etc for football footwork
Nerf guns

I'm still getting deliveries of non food items (things for the kids to do, printer paper, etc). I am in the high risk (but not shielded) group so to minimize contact I have put a sign on my door to knock and leave parcel on step. I'm guessing most delivery drivers will do this anyway (I hope so for their own safety) but I had a couple who still handed things to me and I dont want to take that risk.

It isn't so much about the receiver of the parcel's risk as the workers going to work , packing things up etc and then travelling home to their families. Distancing in a work place is difficult ( I'm in nhs setting and we find it difficult).

This is exactly my dilemma!
