Got a text not sure what they mean

I got a text to say I’m one of the ones that’s need to stay at home for 12 weeks as I’m “vulnerable” I have no idea what they are referring to as I have no health issues, does anyone know how you find out what they mean or do they just send it to everyone?

Could you post the exact text of the message you received, or a screenshot with details obliterated?

jadey0885 · 24/03/2020 19:48

Who was it sent by? Because I know GP's are sending them around along with letters?Or do you live with someone who has medical needs?

If you don't then it could be a scam

slipperywhensparticus · 24/03/2020 19:48

Do you have a medical issue?

PumpkinP · 24/03/2020 19:49

NHS Coronavirus Service: We have identified that you're someone at risk of severe illness if you catch Coronavirus. Please remain at home for a minimum of 12 weeks. Home is the safest place for you. Staying in helps you stay well and that will help the NHS too. You can open a window but do not leave your home, and stay 3 steps away from others indoors. Wash your hands more often, for at least 20 seconds.

I got a general text about last nights announcement about half about ago. Did yours specifically say 12 weeks and that your vulnerable or could it be the general one like mine?

PumpkinP · 24/03/2020 19:50

No only my children but it’s definitely saying that it’s me not any of my children. Don’t live with anyone else.

OP posts:
Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 24/03/2020 19:51

Could they perhaps have got the wrong number? If you have absolutely no health issues I can't see why they would say this. How old are you?

Thepigeonsarecoming · 24/03/2020 19:51

Cross posted OP, have you changed numbers recently?

PumpkinP · 24/03/2020 19:51

How can I stay 3 steps away from my children Confused

OP posts:
jadey0885 · 24/03/2020 19:51

@PumpkinP.
That sounds strange. So did it say to ur name in the text?

PumpkinP · 24/03/2020 19:52

I’m 31

OP posts:
Jamandpeater · 24/03/2020 19:52

Is your contract in your name or someone else's? If it's someone else do they fall into the vulnerable category? Alternatively could be that the number has been re-issued & previously belonged to someone in the vulnerable category

Teddypops · 24/03/2020 19:54

Your phone number will be registered as a contact on your children's records, do they have medical issues?

Bornataveryyoungage · 24/03/2020 19:55

Someone else posted earlier that their husband had received a text like this with no idea why.
He phoned GP but they couldn't tell him anything.

PumpkinP · 24/03/2020 19:57

So weird, my child has mild asthma but it seems aimed at me. No name on the text, that’s literally all it says. Will have to call the drs tomorrow. Phones in my name no contract

OP posts:
PumpkinP · 24/03/2020 19:58

Atleast I’m not the only one that has no idea why I have this text!

OP posts:
slipperywhensparticus · 24/03/2020 19:58

Yes its accurate my friend whose child has cancer recieved one identical

RandomMess · 24/03/2020 19:58

If it's for your DC it will still come to you as you are the contact number for the child.

notcycling · 24/03/2020 19:59

If you have no medical condition that puts you in the extremely vulnerable group then you can ignore the message.

jadey0885 · 24/03/2020 20:03

@PumpkinP
OP my children are asthmatic too, my eldest has mild asthma and my youngest with chronic asthma. So I'm sure I will get a text or letter too.

But being 3 steps away from others especially your children obviously isn't going to work isit.

Good luck

MinkowskisButterfly · 24/03/2020 20:04

If it isn't related to you or your children and it has been sent to you by mistake (was aimed for someone else) then that is worrying that someone who should have received it didnt. Especially if it is happening to multiple people.

HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend · 24/03/2020 20:08

It’s not the GP or the consultants that are sending them out, I called ds’s consultant and his GP surgery and they advised it’s not them sending the texts/emails out.

I didn’t update my contact number and my old number was deactivated. Ds is classed as high risk however are unsure if he’s received a text, receptionist advise they also follow the text up with a letter.

Ds GP has given us a letter anyway.

pinksoda35 · 24/03/2020 20:08

They are also sending letters-So if it is meant for you, than you will most likely receive a letter!

playthestation · 24/03/2020 20:09

It's safe to presume it's been sent in error if you have absolutely no health conditions.

champagneandfromage50 · 24/03/2020 20:11

My DH got the same text but he is in the high risk category....although not sure how he is to use a separate bathroom and toilet when we only have one, he also leaves home daily for radiotherapy....i can only assume your on the list due to your DC having asthma as the text cant be sent to her
