Anyone know if you can claim SSP as a limited company ( just me & DH)

My DH has a limited company but I am the only other person in it. I'm a director and so is he. So I think technically we are employed by his company, but it is as if being self employed as it's just us. Anyone know about SSP in this situation please ? I am on maternity just had a baby and if DH goes sick we will have no income 🙁 ( He is paying my SMP, but usually we both work for clients )

If you both are employees of a ltd company even though it's just you 2, can't you furlough yourselves and claim 80% of your wages?

Yes you can if you are both employed by your company. We have just done this. It’s only £94 per week though. And I think you can only claim 2 weeks for Coronavirus isolation. You need to fill out a form online and let your accountants know so they can put it through payroll. I’m not sure when you get the actual money from the government though, I’m guessing it will be at least a month.

I've just had a quick read up and it's a grey area, if you're already on SMP then I don't think it would do you much good to get furloughed, your husband may be entitled so it's probably best checking as I may be completely wrong

I've never heard of the word furlough .. I don't know if that would be possible for DH as his wages are just what he earns from clients ( so basically it varies each month, as if being self employed. ) Unless the government do something for self employed people, I cant see it working, as he pays himself the salary.

@Bumfuzzled great thanks, not much but better than nothing. The thing is if the money's not there to put through the SSP or even my SMP could be an issue. We have to wait to claim back my SMP too. It's so complicated and our accountants are vague and charge for advice. I
