On line shopping and deliveries(not food)

Ordered some clothes from well known retailer at the weekend and didn't expect to receive them due to lockdown.
Delivered this am -package thrown over gate and driver shouted at son who was in the garden 'No signature needed'
Whilst I am grateful the stuff came is it essential?
Should we be online shopping for things to support the economy (and lift our mood lets face it ) or is it putting additional pressures on delivery drivers?

But you ordered them? Was it as a social experiment?

Ordered pre lockdown Cissy -live rurally and parcels usually left in garage.
Fully expected to be at work when they would be delivered.
Following lockdown didn't expect they would be delivered at all.
So no it wasn't a social experiment - not sure why you would think that.

Loving the image of a parcel lobbed over the wall . I ordered some bath oils and candles from John Lewis . Man rang bell , parcels on the doorstep and stood well back .

At the moment it seems all the retailers are wanting people to shop online to keep their turnover going and keep people in work. Many use couriers rather than other delivery options and are hiring. Lots of options for those self employed who can drive to earn some money.

If you’re in a position to order items online, crack on.
If my dc suddenly grow then I’ll have to order them clothes.

I've ordered some jigsaws, on their way, shampoo and bodywash etc from BodyShop, on it's way, a very large planter for veg, plants to go in it.
Will order click and collect compost at the local farm shop, who also are doing click and collect on pet food, and pet supplies. Drive up, open boot, they lob it in and close boot. Off you go.

I plan to order garden furniture from IKEA soon.
