Teachers are you actually considering working through the weekends and bank holidays?

I am trying to keep calm but I’m getting increasingly agitated by people on MN who suggest that teachers should work through weekends etc.
We are putting ourselves in danger EVERY day just by being in close proximity to hundreds of children who could very well cause us to get Coronavirus ourselves. Yet, some parents don’t care whatsoever and still expect us to parent their children (let’s face there are many kids in schools right now whose parents are classed as key workers but in reality are not).
Teachers, for yourselves and your own families don’t allow yourselves to be used. Take time off to rest as you will burn out otherwise.

Our HT was very, very firm with parents. We only have about 8 children, which I'm comfortable with. Physical distancing is possible. I'm happy to work weekends and holidays, as were only being asked to work a couple of half days a week at the moment. As more staff self isolate we may have to work more. What I don't want to do is work in another school or have children I don't know come to our school. I sound like a big baby saying that, but I know all the children on our school really well and have done since they were in nursery or reception, and working with them will actually give me some light relief in these scary times.
