Lockdown Bucket List

I have been trying to think of things for a Lock Down Bucket List to give my DCs (and me and DP), things to look forward to. Any suggestions welcome. So far I have -

  • Sleeping out in the garden under the stars
  • Getting up early and watching the sun rise with a special breakfast picnic
  • Scary dress up evening (home made costumes adapted from what we already have) along with scary themed food

Easter egg hunt at Easter, obviously. I might pick up some eggs soon just in case it gets harder to later. Can hide them in the garden or just around the house if you don't have one.

Film nights with lots of snacks

Obstacle course made from stuff around the house in the house/garden

I'm probably going to order a few extra garden toys for this summer - a sandpit perhaps.

I want to do a calendar of "events" that everyone can see. It will help to have some "special" things I think.

Look for the National Trust's list of 50 Things to Do before you're 11 3/4 online.

Obviously some are off-limits at the moment, or it's the wrong time of year, but others could be done in the garden or on your daily walk.

You want to sleep in the garden in March?!

Grin Yeah, realistically we will all come inside at some point. But will plan it for April.

I wanted ideas of things to do indoors and in the garden. Things that I know I can make happen.

So Easter Egg hunt is obvious one as Kate says.

I have a small garden so a lot of NT suggested stuff is just not possible.

Re the Easter egg hunt thing, get them cutting egg shapes out of cardboard (you can make a stencil for them) and let them decorate them with with felt tips or odds and ends of colourful wrapping paper, then hide them around the house for them to find. When they've found them they can take turns hiding them for each other.

We’re having a film and pizza night on Friday and a bonfire of all the bits of wood and other stuff that have built up on the fire pit.

Camping sounds good but I doubt our teens will want to and our youngest is only 2, I’m also 7 months pregnant so that’s not really workable for us.

Am at a bit of a loss really. I have already got all our Easter eggs ready though to do a hunt when it rolls around.

We are not allowed bonfires here as it is a built up area.

Grow some things to eat from seed indoors or outdoors. Mustard and cress will be ready to crop in a week, pea shoots will take a few weeks, nasturtiums won't be ready for a few months but they look pretty and the young leaves and flowers taste like rocket, the berries can be pickled and used instead of capers.

You could also get a few supermarket herbs in pots, gently pull them apart (say into 4 - 8 segments) and repot into a larger pot. Learn how to crop them properly to encourage growth. It is a bit early to put them out, especially as they will have been grown under glass but you could start them off indoors.

Don't go crazy and buy loads, especially if you aren't green fingered, leave some for everyone.
