Brexit. An interruption to the food trade. Over the next few months things are going to be tough enough without adding the pressure of Brexit into the mix. Surely the government should be hitting the pause button on this and focus completely on the pandemic

I completely agree, i think for now it needs to be stopped. Food is so important right now

I think it’s very telling that 2 of the biggest supporters of Brexit, Mike Ashley of Sports Direct and Tim Martin of Wetherspoons, are 2 twats who think the closure rules surrounding CV don’t need to apply to them

Gives you a much clearer idea of their intentions and lack of morals

I was reading about the EU pooling resources such as ventilators and thinking 'this is exactly why we needed to stay in the EU'. But of course, in the run up to the referendum, any mention of the ability for member states to support one another in times of crisis was dismissed as 'Project Fear'.

Except that when Italy asked for more staff, it was China who sent them and not her neighbours. Borders are closing everywhere. I agree that Brexit should be temporarily paused till the pandemic is waning but if anything it has shown the EU does not live up to its utopian reputation, in my view.

Not just the food though, all the Europeans that are getting chucked out of the country, care workers, nhs staff, delivery drivers- now more than ever we are realising they are essential to our society. Can we really afford to lose them right now?

Don't let facts disturb your view Bath

There has been much sharing of knowledge, manpower and even patients in the EU

Unfortunately there are still plenty frothing at the mouth for a no deal brexit right now. What kind of mental gymnastics you have to do to think that’s a good idea I cannot comprehend.

The sensible thing to do would be to obtain an extension for negotiations and revisit it when the country isn’t on its knees trying to deal with a pandemic.
