Just to make people aware, Wolverhampton council's 'meals on wheels' service isn't just for elderly and disabled people. ANYONE can request them.
If you are in the city you can order a meal consisting of a main and a pudding for £5.10 and if you live outside the city but within 4 miles of the city you can also order but you pay more.
They can also deliver ab 'afternoon tea' consisting of a sandwich, fruit and a treat, usually biscuits.
No I do not work for the council but I do normally have a delivery one day a week. I know it's not a cheap option and the food is not going to win Michelin stars but it is edible.
There are 2 things that might be important if you are unwell, one is that each meal is nutritionally balanced, unlike supermarket ready meals, and two there is thorough batch testing as the core customers are vulnerable.
I don't know if other councils offer this but it is worth checking out.
