Can’t sleep and have my scan at 9am tomorrow

My 20-week scan is tomorrow which I have been so excited (but also naturally anxious) for. Haven’t left the house in almost 4 weeks due to limiting my exposure outside (and then social distancing too).

I’ve been quite concerned about potential issues at the actual scan itself as it look long TTC this baby, but now I’m also scared to be around lots of ppl whilst waiting (as its always so busy) and also fearful of having the scan with the sonographer so close to me.

This probably sounds stupid but I don’t want to risk anything but also really want to go for the scan Confused

Should I mention anything to the Sonograpgher??

I should probably make it clearer that my anxiety stems from the need to distance myself from others but needing to attend this appointment also

I had a scan a couple of days ago and the waiting room was completely empty - it is not business as usual and many people’s appts have been cancelled, they are not bringing lots of extra family members to sit around the waiting room etc. They might even allow you to wait in the car and then call you when you can go straight in. The sonographers will have taken extra precautions, plus the precautions you can take yourself, and you can of course ask them how they will be minimising the risks to you in terms of passing anything on. It will be as safe as it can be. Which is not to say risk-free, so it is your choice about whether you attend, but there are also the risks associated with not attending and the medical conditions that might be picked up. It is completely normal to be anxious about this - everything feels completely mad and out of control and pregnancy is an anxious time at the best of times. You could also call the ultrasound dept in advance and ask what their setup is as they may be able to reassure you of what steps they have taken to minimise the risks

It’s great that’s it’s 9am as it should be quiet and people won’t be sat causing a backlog so should be quick.

Take your hand sanitiser and don’t touch magazines etc (should all have been cleared away). Don’t be tempted to get coffee etc.

I think you’ll feel so much better when you’ve been and seen the scan (which is so exciting) Congratulations on your pregnancy
