Is this allowed? - Getting to work.

I am a nurse and work two days a week, one after the other.

Due to personal circumstances I spend those two days with my dad who takes me and to and fro work each day and then takes me back to my own home at the end of the second day.

Is this allowed to continue?

Technically I’m socialising with somebody who doesn’t live in the household.

I could potentially find another method of getting to work if I had to but I have no way of getting home unless I have lifts with my dad.

Don’t really know what to do.

As far as I can make out, you will either have to go to work and not have any contact with him, or not going to work and continue to care for him

Rockchic7 · 24/03/2020 07:00

From what Boris Johnson said yesterday I'd say no as you are mixing with someone from outside of your household but as you are a nurse I don't know if they would make an exception for you. It's clear we need as many healthcare workers as possible at the moment. I'd speak to your boss and find out where you stand.

PanicOnTheStreets85 · 24/03/2020 07:03

I guess strictly speaking no. I suppose you could move in with your Dad and then you'd be the same household?

Soontobe60 · 24/03/2020 07:12

Are there any rooms at the hospital i.e. Staff accommodation that you could use?

comfysocks8516 · 24/03/2020 07:30

Nope

QueenofmyPrinces · 24/03/2020 07:39

I don’t live with my dad.

My DH takes me to my dads house on Thursday night and I sleep there. My dad then takes me to work Friday morning and picks me up Friday night and I sleep at his house. He then takes me to work Saturday morning, picks me up Saturday evening and then drives me back to my house.

I think it’s fine
It’s no different to children with step parents

NotEverythingIsBlackandwhite · 24/03/2020 07:46

No 'technically' about it. You are not to socialise with other households. You are not to visit family.

wowfudge · 24/03/2020 07:47

Can your DH not take you to and from work instead?

Wildboar · 24/03/2020 07:50

If your Dh takes you to your dads then why can’t he pick you up from work?

QueenofmyPrinces · 24/03/2020 08:36

My DH can’t pick me up as we have two young children who are asleep by 7pm and I don’t finish until at the 9pm earliest Sad

It’s for this reason that I do two shifts in a row because I go and stop with my dad for the block of 48 hours and he takes me to and fro work.

I think as your dh can pick you up that’s what must happen. He will either have to keep the dc up or put them in the car asleep. It’s doable.

YakkityYakYakYak · 24/03/2020 09:26

I think putting your Dad at risk should be at the bottom of the list of solutions. There must be another way OP surely. Can you lift share with someone else at the hospital? DH picks you up and just has to bring the kids?

QueenofmyPrinces · 24/03/2020 10:46

I think I’m just going to have to speak to my work about changing my hours to allow my DH to pick me up at a time that won’t disrupt the children.

I could work less hours each day and work an extra day a week or something.
