Working but have high risk person in household

What are you supposed to do?! Not me, but a relative. One works in a supermarket, the other is in the high risk group. They have absolutely no where to live separately. Do I just expect them to catch it?! I'm so worried.

100% self isolate.

You don't want to risk anything especially if your living with someone who is high risk. Working is a supermarket you are dealing with people all day and have no idea if they have COVID. It's better to be safe.

I also think this too but how do they go about it? Sick leave? Unpaid? I don't know what to tell them and they're confused about what they can do too

I think at the moment it's the normal statuary sick pay that you will recieve.

Have you spoken to your work about taking time off to self isolate ?

Following with interest

It's a relative of mine. They're currently on a week sick note due to anxiety and work related stress. I'm asking them to extend it but I don't know if that's the right thing to do?
They're terrified of losing their job.

Just tell your relative to speak to their manager. Advise them that they need to self isolate due to the high risk family memeber and they are worried that they can pass something on.

Also Boris Johnson has announced of the lock down so even more reason to stay at home. Definitely speak to work an see what they advise.

I’m so worried I work in M&S foods gone back pt but my DD ivf miracle is 21 months I don’t want to put her back in nursery so Hubby will be at home and I don’t want to put them both at risk it’s a horrible feeling

Daisychain19 · 23/03/2020 22:42

What can they do if the manager says tough? Which I suspect they will. I feel so bad for them, they're really stressed about it all

I think you still have to go to work. I am in the same position. What I have been advised is this:
Before you come home have a plastic bag ready and washing machine door open.
Remove clothes and put in bag, empty clothes in to washing machine and put bag in bin without touching anything.
Have a shower.
Come back and close washing machine door and wash clothes.
