I'm going to use the time at home to finally get round to decorating, and have my house exactly how I envisaged it.

I'm not going to bother blow drying my hair anywhere near as much. Will be good for my hair and free's up more time to decorate Grin

JiltedJohnsJulie · 23/03/2020 22:08

The garden is finally having a tidy up. The DC are way more relaxed and I'm rereading Harry Potter.

DH has brought sone of his old vinyl down so we've been remembering being young Grin

Shopgirl1 · 23/03/2020 22:11

Benefits: Lives are saved
Non Benefits: Thousands of job losses ahead, mass inflation, a depression that is likely to take a decade to recover from.

FuzzyPuffling · 23/03/2020 22:11

I can wear comfy "leisurewear" every day ..
No risk of anyone coming to the door.

Shopgirl1 · 23/03/2020 22:12

Don’t see any light hearted benefits, too worried about how to keep family’s head above water.

thisusernameismine · 23/03/2020 22:13

@Shopgirl1 I'm all for this lockdown (in fact think it should be stricter!) - no symptoms but been isolating my family for well over a week now. But wanted to start a lighthearted thread about the small positives please Smile

Me too. I’m going to decorate my kitchen & hall. The paint has been sitting in a cupboard for about 6 months.

Secondchild2019 · 23/03/2020 22:14

My DS is potty trained at last!! (It has taken soooooo long) but this seems to have cracked it Smile It will also be good to have some more time at home with him and hopefully become a better mum for it

thisusernameismine · 23/03/2020 22:15

@Secondchild2019 ooh good point! Must get potty training in ASAP, my daughter is 19 months 😃

@Shopgirl1 sorry to hear that. I've also lost my part time job and worry (having returned to work on 3 days a week) that I might be one of the most vulnerable if the company starts to suffer.

We have also had to end our nanny share which breaks my heart (we are paying notice) and makes trying to WFH pretty challenging.

Just looking for the silver linings Thanks

thisusernameismine I agree it’s necessary, we have been self isolating for 10 days ourselves, however I don’t think there are any light hearted benefits, It’s going to cripple us financially and economically for years, people’s livelihoods will be decimated, there is nothing light hearted about what is ahead now.

SQuueze · 23/03/2020 22:18

Training the puppy. She’ll be able to act in films after this. Emote, puppy, emote.

Flixsfoilball · 23/03/2020 22:20

No bra for me! (I have to wear a bra normally, otherwise it would be obscene 🤣)

Bargebill19 · 23/03/2020 22:30

Not feeling guilty about not going to the gym.

Bargebill19 · 23/03/2020 22:33

Shopgirl1
I rather thought that the point was we either laugh or cry in times of extreme stress. This isn’t to minimise any of the far reaching effects of this crisis.
But some of us prefer to be optimistic? And try to find something to be grateful for or to laugh at.
After a horrific day and week why not ?

PlomBear · 23/03/2020 22:34

I really don’t like people and now I don’t have to see anybody! For weeks!

LadyTiredWinterBottom2 · 23/03/2020 22:36

No cunty boss for a bit.

Pe with Joe Wicks

Cuddles with the fam

Getting jobs done around the house l've been meaning to do for a while

Using less petrol

TheGirlWhoLived · 23/03/2020 22:39

Pe with joe wicks sounded like a wonderful idea until I underwent it this morning and realised that I can’t keep up with children’s pe! I was knackered!!

Secondchild2019 · 23/03/2020 23:06

Good luck @thisusernameismine - definitely worth giving it a go! My son is much, much older Blush

ShanghaiDiva · 23/03/2020 23:12

My mum has me lined up to reorganise and clear out her kitchen cupboards. Given that every drawer or cupboard I open seems full of random crap: umbrellas, cds, sewing box and lots of carefully folded carrier bags, I am looking forward to actually finding where she hides the tea towels.
(Have been staying with her for several weeks as she was due to have a knee op, but was cancelled.)

kittykat7210 · 23/03/2020 23:15

Try and prepare for the new baby, tidy up the house and throw out unnecessary s**t

Just hoping I don’t develop post partum depression again like I did with my daughter. It will be very hard to not feel isolated and alone when we’re supposed to be isolated and alone...

WellTidy · 23/03/2020 23:17

Now that DH and I are working from home and the Dv aren’t in school, we have been eating dinner as a family each evening. Never normally happens on weeknights as DH works long hours. Even if DH is working, he takes a break for dinner and goes back to it. It is really nice.

When DH has a break from work during the day, he plays football with the dc in the garden. They’re loving having him around more.

Billyeyelash · 23/03/2020 23:17

I found a bottle of hand-wash today in the cupboard. So thankful for Baylis & Hardy Christmas gift sets all of a sudden.

wildthingsinthenight · 23/03/2020 23:18

Do more cooking and baking, start an UNO tournament with my DS, online yoga, sort the garden out...clean the oven!!

lauryloo · 23/03/2020 23:21
