Working from home tips

Working from home for the foreseeable future but I don’t have a great office set up - anyone else in the same position?

How have you set up a makeshift office/desk?

I need space for my laptop and a specialist computer/keyboard from work at least. I don’t really have much space, aside from the living room or kitchen but then I feel like I’m encroaching too much on the rest of my household! Particularly as I’m constantly taking video/conference calls. So I might repurpose my bedroom’s dressing table

Every wall in my house is white, and my blinds aren’t doing a great job of keeping the sun out. It’s unbearably bright so I’ll have to buy something to block the sun out!

I need tips on staving off boredom. I'm a teacher having to work remotely but compared to constant interaction, the time taken to set work, answer queries and provide feedback just isn't filling the 6 hours I usually work for even with a bit of paperwork and planning (and IT troubleshooting for my colleague) and I'm missing the pupils.

Repurposing your dressing table sounds good and your bedroom is then awa from everyone else (hopefully).

Alternatively, a cheap lightweight drawing board can act like a desk top so you can easily move all your work stuff in one move if you need your makeshift desk to return to a original purpose each day (e.g. dinner table)
