Abuse outside walking

I took the children out for a walk today very local to us (prior to the pandemic we used to go daily) found a very quiet spot and didn't see anyone for about 40 minutes and a small family gave us a wide berth.

About 10 minutes later a man with his two dogs starts approaching us quickly with his phone in his hand (it appeared he was taking photos of our DC) screaming at me that I'm a fucking idiot and should not be outside the house socialising..

I asked him to stop taking photos of the children and he screamed for me to phone the police because they won't do anything about it.

Sat at home v upset. Cried and shaken up.

Well the going for a walk will become less of an issue now the local councils are starting to close parks.

OP sorry you had this experience, some people are just twats.

I can’t help thinking that whilst you and your children were outside for 50 minutes enjoying the air, no one else could come near you. I think we all have to be less selfish. My children are home. We cannot go out because it’s not right. It’s not about what we as individuals enjoy anymore. It’s about a collective responsibility. He probably saw you as being selfish. If he was passing to walk his dog it’s a bit different from someone out with children for an hour. You need to stay home. Everyone needs to stay home. When will people get this?

MintyMabel · 23/03/2020 18:46

It is possible to walk in places which aren’t parks.

MintyMabel · 23/03/2020 18:48

Because dogs need exercise more than children do?

If we all need to stay indoors, so do dog owners.

Vinylsamso · 23/03/2020 18:50

Cissyandflora - are you getting ready for your TV appearance at 20.30 tonight?

No, you’re not because you’re a nobody. Current Government guidelines state this woman was allowed to do what she was doing.

TheGreatWave · 23/03/2020 18:52

Yep, we can jump over the fence and onto the school field Wink

Everyone needs to stay home. When will people get this?

Maybe when the government aren't telling them that it is ok to go for a walk.

Cissyandflora · 23/03/2020 18:57

@Vinylsamso you’re a buffoon. But yes I’m getting ready for the tv at 8.30. Hopefully you’ll be watching too and your little dense head can comprehend something from it. If not ask someone around you who might be able to explain.

PlantHerd · 23/03/2020 19:00

My youngest DC is 2 so things take a bit longer to walk around and another has a mobility/disability. In total i think we were out for just over an hour!

Are they not facts then? Does the Government advice say you can still go outside while maintaining social distancing? Yes, it does.

Stick to the facts. It helps at times like these.

Vinylsamso · 23/03/2020 19:02

Calling people names because they disagree with you and won’t follow your advice over Government advice 😂😂😂😂

Cissyandflora · 23/03/2020 19:05

@vinylsamso I’ll try to explain it in really simple terms for you after I’ve listened to the public announcement later. Fools like you are the problem and you’re putting a strain on the wonderful NHS staff who risk their lives helping and would help you too.

Vinylsamso · 23/03/2020 19:07

😂😂 have I not made in clear... You are nobody.
I’ll be checking out the guidance later and adhering to it. Just like this lady did/ will do.

NotDisclosedToday · 23/03/2020 19:14

Should have faked a huge coughing fit.

MrsTerryPratchett · 23/03/2020 19:19

as someone also used to very quiet dog walking routes, the sudden influx of family outings is irritating.

Happens every January when people make New Years resolutions.

If people would PLEASE walk Ailton file and off the path when passing. That's all I need.

foamrolling · 23/03/2020 19:24

This is the weirdest, non sensical argument : 'can’t help thinking that whilst you and your children were outside for 50 minutes enjoying the air, no one else could come near you'. Erm. What? So, some mythical other person can go out but not the op because she would be stopping other people from being in thay specific space. Hey???

brittanyshears · 23/03/2020 19:48

@Cissyandflora we are allowed to go outside if we practise social distancing. I took my DC's to the park earlier. They had strict instructions nor to get close to anyone else and the physically did a wide berth around anyone we passed. We didn't sit still, we didn't touch anything or anyone. All the play equipment is now taped off in the playground so they can't spread anything.
Right now, this is fine and a way of remaining mentally healthy. What the man did to the OP is not fine at all.

Blondiney · 23/03/2020 19:54

Haha, true that. Always grateful to get to mid January. Grin

Cissyandflora · 23/03/2020 21:51

@foamrolling it’s about extrapolating. Whilst one person is out with the children because it’s what they enjoy and what they want to do it is the sort of selfish entitlement that needs to stop. Try to imagine what would happen if everyone did that. Does that make more sense? Maybe I’m not explaining it well but basically extrapolate.

foamrolling · 23/03/2020 22:47

But she found a quiet spot where she didn't see anyone for 40 minutes? It's perfectly possible to find quiet spots away from everyone for some isolated fresh air. That's fine. It's not selfish. It's not stopping others enjoying the fresh air. We don't all need to be in the same spot at the same time.

Cissyandflora · 23/03/2020 23:48

I think it’s more important to stay home. This is truly terrifying and I think seeing people outside is just really frustrating. It can’t work if we all go out. I’m in a built up area so maybe that colours my view but honestly I wish people could just stay in. The nhs are struggling and risking their own lives to help others. Just stay home everyone. Rain or shine. Let’s try our best.

"If people would PLEASE walk Ailton file and off the path when passing. That's all I need."

Absolutely-just stick to the rules!

Wonder if this is why BJ has announced only allowed out once for exercise?
