I'm seething, my neighbor has her children's friends over. All playing on the trampoline screaming, tagging one another. It's day bloody one of no school and this has started already, what hope do we have?! I'm so angry I feel like shouting over the bloody fence to her, we already have at least one known critical case in our area only in his thirties! Anyone else witnessing the same idiocy?

Yep can hear exactly the same thing happening at my neighbours at the back of the garden. Music blearing the lot. Fucking ridiculous.

Why is there so much fuss from the UK about the change to routines? The country I live in (and many others) have had home working and home schooling all last week. It’s tricky but people are just getting on with it. What is it in the UK that makes it all so difficult to understand? Why all the panic and moaning?

No idea, this family can't even last one day without breaking the guidelines.

Mine are out in the garden/trampoline in between learning for a break. The fresh air is good for them, but we wouldn’t have friends over.

I’m shocked at all the kids in my area socialising with neighbouring kids. I’m the only one not allowing mine out with them!

DrSheldonCooperPHD · 23/03/2020 14:19

My kids had an hour in the garden after lunch, nothing wrong with that but absolutely no friends/family over.
There's a group of older kids playing football in the street - morons.

Putapeonyinyourpocket · 23/03/2020 14:41

Absolutely nothing wrong with your household getting fresh air, we're doing the same. It's the having friends over which provoked my post.

Apparently from a friend who works there the local shopping centre is full of groups of teenagers hanging out.

This is why we are going to need to go to a strict lockdown because some people are too self centred to think beyond their own box

We live on a corner and have taught the children that if they go into the garden they must not go near the gate or hedge if there are people around.

Yesterday, our neighbour said he was so grateful, as his wife is high-risk and when he went into the garden DS said "I'll move away from the hedge because I know we're not meant to be near each other" - he said he's so glad to have sensible neighbours so he doesn't feel he can't even go into his own garden. It must be horrible to feel other people are putting your own family at risk when you're trying your best to keep safe.

Here has been quite good. I over look a school that usually has a about 300 kids. Theres about 25-30 today. No kids playing out on the street. I had to drive through town earlier. I am on annual leave but the office are being changed to WFH so I need to get my stuff before it closed. Town was much quieter than it has been for weeks.

Here, at least, the message is getting through.

DippyAvocado · 23/03/2020 14:55

Could your neighbour be helping out with childcare? It's not ideal but better than being kept together in large school groups.

stoptherideiwanttogetoff · 23/03/2020 14:56

We've just finished for the day, a lollipop as a reward and an hour outside play in the garden. We are remote and won't be inviting anyone over.. we do need more paper for the printer and a glue stick, so I be driving out shortly to get that quickly. Then I'll make tea, clean up, put a wash on then do my 4 hours of work I've not done because I've changed my routine to home school my kids. Oh and today I took a 50% pay cut no questions asked for the foreseeable future! Not all parents are selfish 🙌

Putapeonyinyourpocket · 23/03/2020 15:30

Dippyavocado unfortunately not, their mother is also there enjoying the sunshine!
