I always get confused by this. What exactly is "soap"?
People on here say dove isn't a soap but I'm not entirely sure what makes something a soap? What ingredients does it need to be?

Keepithidden · 23/03/2020 09:44

I understand it just needs to be a detergent to break down the protective lipid layer on the surface of the virus. So it may be soap free, but still have a detergent element.

Google it for more info!

From what i understand, any soap that foams/lathers is good.

I don't know! I have Pears hand wash and dd has just pointed out that it says "100% soap free" on the back. Although the ingredients look similar ti the Carex hand wash!

If you have oil on your hand, will the hand wash take it off? If yes, it will also destroy the lipid (posh word for fat) layer on the outside if the virus, so you will be fine.

On the news they said any handwash that produces a foam/lather will work.

Ok great thanks
