Struggling with anger with people

Bubblesbubblesmybubbles · 23/03/2020 08:57

We are doing everything as per guidlines, pregnant and not risking a thing.

I can't help but be SO angry with all the people meeting up still. How is it fair that if I have issues giving birth they may have taken all the facilities? I could die despite doing everything i can to keep me and my family safe because of their stupidity

Finding it so hard to not have a break down about this.

Many of us are going to die because of the idiotic actions of others. It’s absolutely appalling.

Bubblesbubblesmybubbles · 23/03/2020 09:13

I managed to calm myself down about it yesterday but that struck me about half an hour ago.

I feel sick

Reginabambina · 23/03/2020 09:16

It’s really important that all of us (or as many of us as possible) keep our heads. I appreciate it’s easier said than done when you’re due to give birth soon but you need to stop. Turn off your phone, stay at home and chill out.

Bubblesbubblesmybubbles · 23/03/2020 09:20

I've been doing well and just controlling what i can but i just want to slap people (with a 2m long stick of course)

Feeling so guilty for bringing a baby into this mess

MummyPop00 · 23/03/2020 09:21

You cannot control the actions of others, that’s a forthcoming choice for HM Gov

Just look out for you & yours, it’s all you can do ;)

FilledSoda · 23/03/2020 09:38

Try not to let this be your sole focus.
Turn off the news .
You won't miss anything about if you check a reputable news source once a day.
Yes things are quite serious but most of us will survive and there is absolutely nothing to be gained by getting wound up .
Would you consider guided mediation?
It's very useful when you feel your emotions spinning out of control.

Bubblesbubblesmybubbles · 23/03/2020 09:42

I know you are right, its just horrid to see how people clearly don't care about one another!

How can people be so harmful to others?! Its like because its not instant they don't see it as killing others.

I suspect that the people who are still going out don’t actually know anyone who’s had / had the virus, which makes this whole thing seem very remote to them. Also, I don’t think the seriousness of the situation has been made entirely clear - that we have to stop the spread of the virus because if older people get it they will place a huge burden on the healthcare system which it can’t deal with; at the moment a lot of people (and I’ve met many of them through work, including many over 60s who don't think of themselves as old or vulnerable) are still unclear about why we’re putting measures in place when the virus isn’t dangerous for most people and say they’d rather just get in with life and catch it. Plus, only days ago the NT announced it was opening its parks and gardens free of charge - which is a pretty confusing message and doesn’t exactly shout “stay indoors and don’t get near people.”

TL;DR I genuinely don’t think it’s pure selfishness in the sense of “I don’t think about other people and they can just die for all I care.”

Agree with PPs - turn off the rolling news and check a reputable source once a day for major updates.

My neighbours are going away for a few days, she’s pregnant and they wanted some time away before the baby comes. They’re lovely people but this has made me angry and worried and I wish I could just shake them and beg them not to go!

Bubblesbubblesmybubbles · 23/03/2020 10:04

Thats a nicer way to think about it, that they're not being asses they just dont get it.

Thank you for letting me rant and have my little freak out. Its helping actually. I feel like i can't tell DH as he might then panic too

LittleBoyJuly2020 · 23/03/2020 10:09

I'm 22 weeks pregnant and I get ao anxious before a press conference because everyday I'm screaming in my head 'just bloody put us on a lockdown?!?!'

I just cannot fathom how some of us are so incredibly stupid, it's beyond me. Do we think we're immune or something? It drives me mad.

I also feel guilty for bringing a baby into this mess. Obviously we had no idea what was coming but it's ruined my pregnancy. As if it isn't stressful enough Sad

Froq · 23/03/2020 10:20

I’m not sure the ignorance argument applies to all.

I’ve posted a few times about the situation where I am. We’re in a touristy location and families flocked here when the isolation guidance was released. They’ve been letting their kids run riot from early morning until late, having bbqs and parties on the village green and generally being utter twats.

We have a retirement village connected to the green and no residents can enjoy their garden without coming into contact with the kids. We set up a system to deliver groceries to the residents but have to pass the swarm of kids to get there, thus increasing our chances of infection.

We’ve spoken to the parents numerous times and get the same responses:

‘How are we supposed to keep them in? They’re kids?!’

‘We’re all healthy so it can’t be us spreading it’

‘If you don’t like it you should move’

An elderly resident was taken ill last night, we don’t know if it’s coronavirus yet.

Meanwhile the kids are playing football on the green today with the parents sat around sharing food and drinks.

Bubblesbubblesmybubbles · 23/03/2020 10:31

@LittleBoyJuly2020 fingers crossed for you the peak will be over when your little one is born. I'm also screaming at the TV for lockdown

@froq yup heard that before "how can we keep them in"......easily. My toddler is under house arrest and will remain that way

ErrolTheDragon · 23/03/2020 10:43

You're allowed to feel angry. Don't feel bad about that.
Come on here and vent if it helps.

Bubblesbubblesmybubbles · 23/03/2020 11:06

I think it would almost be weirder not to be angry

OP posts:
Eachpeachtree · 23/03/2020 11:11

I totally understand your anger and I feel the same way! And I’m not about to give birth, so I completely get your worry and frustration!
As a PP said, I genuinely think these people are just idiots. Or maybe ‘ignorant’ is a better word - they’re not vulnerable, they haven’t been in bed with symptoms, they don’t know NHS working who are knackered already. They just don’t get it, it’s genuine ignorance, and it’s resulting in social irresponsibility.
I’m certain we’ll have a lockdown soon to stop them.
I’m coping by looking at this graphic a lot, a friend posted it and it’s SO useful, it’s exactly what I need to remember!

Struggling with anger with people
Bubblesbubblesmybubbles · 23/03/2020 11:19

Ah i like that graphic. Its very true and in all fairness i suppose i need to think about this in terms of idiots driving on the road etc. Cant stop them being idiots, can keep an eye on all other cars when driving and give everyone a wide berth

OP posts:
Eachpeachtree · 23/03/2020 11:20

That’s a brilliant analogy, I’m going to steal that one to repeat, in return for the pic Grin thank you!

The80sweregreat · 23/03/2020 11:24

We are in isolation and doing the right things but others can't and it really sucks.
I'm appalled at their behaviour

Bubblesbubblesmybubbles · 23/03/2020 11:25

It made me relax instantly thinking of it actually

OP posts:
The80sweregreat · 23/03/2020 11:36

I think that the 'denial stage' about this went on for weeks. It's understandable but I heard all this ' it's all scaremongering' for a few weeks.
It's so tough. I'm depressed for everyone who is genuine and going to suffer here.
There is nothing anyone can say

Bubblesbubblesmybubbles · 23/03/2020 11:47

I worry for my friends who are in
teaching, emergancy services and NHS. It is NOT what they signed up for at all

And those coming out of retirement to help. I mean just want to thank them all but words arent even enough they are amazing amazing people.

Ive seen more people on social media take it seriously now which is good. I just hope the lockdown happens before its too late.

OP posts:
The80sweregreat · 23/03/2020 11:58

Being pregnant should be a lovely time : all this stress and worry isn't doing women or the baby any good. It's nobodies fault but I do feel so sad 😞 as it's ruined so many lives.
A few weeks ago it was all ' be kind'
Now it's ' I'll do what I want'
It's hard for everyone but we need to pull together more than ever

Bubblesbubblesmybubbles · 23/03/2020 12:18

Ill probably get told i have high blood pressure at this rate.....and i will have it but not for pregnancy related issues

OP posts:
LittleBoyJuly2020 · 23/03/2020 12:21

I had high blood pressure the other day when I saw a midwife. She said she's seeing it a lot in the last week and put it down to coronavirus stress Sad
