Just got a text saying this.

I mean... What?

Surely the whole point is people STAYING AWAY from school? A high % of our school has FSM.

Were in isolation so can't even go get them anyway.

Is this the government response to this issue? To have every parent traipse down to school at the same time each day Hmm

What do you do during the school holidays? Presumably you feed your kid/s then?

Staff are risking their lives and the lives of their families by looking after these children. Nurses and doctors are ending up in ITU due to exposure to an increased viral load. Are staff looking after a load of coughing, sneezing, mucky children magically safe?

Perhaps arrange with some other parents to pick up more than one as to lessen the amount of people going to the school? Other than that 🤷🏾‍♂️

Can you appreciate the logistics of managing that system and that there will be a time when putting it in place means, even if you want to do it, there will be an interim period with a quick fix?

The government can only prepare on a broad scale for a situation like this and then have to react to the specifics.

I’m finding some people’s expectations of the government and their response quite ridiculous given the fact that the whole world has been given a curveball.

Schools have picked the options they believe would work best. A lot of local schools pick packed lunches that require collection because they know the majority of their FSM kids’ parents wouldn’t spend vouchers on food for their kids. Honestly if you don’t need the FSM then maybe ask the school to redistribute them. If you need them and are isolating ask a friend or neighbour to pick them up.

Ipear I save up extra money before school holidays and buy extra food in the weeks before. Obviously wasn't able to do that in this situation

'The majority of FSM parents wouldn't spend the money on food for their kids'

Seriously?

I’ve got an email saying I have to collect the kids packed lunches in a childrens centre 6 miles away. It’ll cost me £12 a day in bus fare for me and the kids to collect them
