£3k help for the self-employed

PollyPelargonium52 · 23/03/2020 07:31

Can anybody please give me the link or website for the above as I am a single parent working 20 hours a week and anticipate a national lockdown meaning I cannot do my job so easily as there will be a reduction in earnings. I do life coach readings but they have already drastically reduced in numbers. I have only minimal savings.

Please anybody help urgently with the link. It isn't coming up on gov.uk website.

Many thanks in anticipation.

The only help at the moment for self employed is universal credit and £94 a week with no income cap.

More measures for SE are due to be announced in the next couple of days.

Oh ok thanks for that. I thought they were giving out £3k for the self-employed? I am certain I heard this announced from an official source.

The 3k is for small businesses.

They were giving out 3k to small business who qualify for rate relief. That grant has now been made 10k.

Unfortunately there is no other help for self employed as yet. Hoping a similar package offered to employees can be extended to sole traders who have got verified accounts. This is when those who play by the rules and declare everything should be assisted.

The £3k is only if you pay business rates - most self employed do not.

There may be something new today IF you are in a category with no work due to the virus (so again not most self employed even those who cannot work because their children are home - zilch for them)

Thank you for the replies. Things have become clearer since I wrote the message and it transpires I will come under the self-employment income rules based on the past 3 years tax returns where my income from earnings is the highest amount. It is payable based on 2016/17, 2017/18, 2018/19 in case anybody wishes to look into it. 80 per cent of the three years tax returns for the earnings where it is more than any PAYE amount. Up to £2,500. HMRC will email everybody who qualifies for this amount direct. Cheers.
