How can you register with a GP temporarily?

DS and his gf are at uni but everything has shut down, uni has closed all buildings/services including the uni medical centre where they are both registered.

They are both coming here next weekend to stay until this is all over. DS will hopefully be able to re-register with our GP as he does that every time he comes home from uni for the holidays.

However his gf has never been registered here. She's an international student from an EU country and is coming here because she can't get home. She has quite bad asthma so needs to be registered so she can get medication.

Does anyone know whether this is possible?

Depends on the length of time.
I'd just register her under your address without specifying how long she is staying with you (as you don't know anyway) so it's an indefinite period.

Thanks. I didn't know if it would be more complicated because shes not British.

I assume if she is already registered in the uk at a Gp surgery even if it is the uni one, then it won’t make any difference if she is from the EU as she will have an NHS no.
Usually if someone is staying with family under 6 months (at our surgery) they would sign on as a temp pt. if they are staying longer and she has no proof of address at yours what we would do is ask for a letter from you (a pt) stating they are living with you. So I would state for this that they have moved in with you and give no time limits as such.
If she needs her medication, I imagine she’ll need a tel call with the very least an asthma nurse as records take time to transfer to each surgery.
Your surgery should be able to let you know more regarding their specific policies
