Past few days I have felt lethargic and achy which I put down to stress and insomnia. Past couple of days I have had a tickly throat and a very slight cough eg a couple of seconds a few times in the past 24 hours. As this is more than 3 episodes the online test says corona. But it seems more like a cold , if that. I am not going out anyway but If it is the virus I should get others in my household to self isolate but I don’t want to scare them unnecessarily. Could this be cv?

Guidelines are any new cough or fever the whole household self isolates

You may have it, some people only get mild symptoms.

Or you may have a regular cold.

But why on earth take the risk of your family spreading it around if you do have it? You all should have been self isolating since you developed symptoms.

a very slight cough eg a couple of seconds a few times in the past 24 hours.

That isn't a persistent cough.

And a "tickly" throat isn't a sore throat.

BovvyDazz · 22/03/2020 21:52

You may have it, you may not.
I think anyone with any New illness should self isolate with family. We don’t know enough about the symptoms yet.

I had same symptoms as you 10 days ago. Not been out the house since. My husband then had v similar symptoms, no cough.

My DS has then been v poorly and wheezy with a bad cough.

It may be coronavirus, it may not be, why risk it.

Doryhunky · 22/03/2020 21:53

The cough started yesterday afternoon. It is not persistent . We haven’t been out since then and no intention of going out. I am just concerned about what to say to my lodger. ( who is not going out generally but is also prone to anxiety. )

If nhs website says household isolates then that’s what you do and you have to tell them. Stuff worrying them.
Hope you feel better soon

To be clear my family and I are not going out anyway . Just wondering about the lodger.

The NHS site doesn't say you have coronavirus. Hmm

Doryhunky · 22/03/2020 21:56

Ok will just tell her what my symptoms are. (She is a long way from home and no way of getting back hence my concern.)

They will have seen the news too. They will know what has to happen. It's not your decision - it's ordered by the government. Tell your lodger you're symptoms mean you must both self isolate for 14 days. That's it. Job done. Hope you feel better soon.

Pipandmum · 22/03/2020 21:58

Lodger is part of your household. While cough and fever are most common symptoms time and tme again it has been explained that it may feel like a regular cold, or you may not have a cough or fever. It most likely is not coronavirus but you wont know for sure so all of you need to self isolate.

Doryhunky · 22/03/2020 22:00

Ok. Will tell her. Thanks

This is not your call to make, the guidance is that everyone in your household should now self-isolate for 14 days.
