Who else has physical anxiety symptoms now?

Obviously it is a very scary time, but emotionally I'm more or less ok - with a few half hours of panicky 'oh fuck' every once in a while. I have an underlying condition.

But I'm having lots of palpitations. Pretty sure anxiety related because when I have a glass of wine in the evening I start to relax and forget about them. However, I'm worried the anxiety is raising my fucking blood pressure which is the last thing any of us needs!

Plus I am carrying so much muscle tension sometimes I start shaking randomly when I'm not consciously even thinking of the whole situation. But it's always there at the back of my mind.

Anyone else experiencing physical stuff like this?

I’m not the most emotional person in the world, I don’t suffer anxiety and nothing normally bothers me. However over the last couple of days I’ve felt my heart racing when I’ve read the updates, it’s also affected my appetite. Today it happened again and I burst into tears (can’t remember the last time I cried). Hubby asked me what was wrong and all I could say in a pathetic voice was “it’s just so horrible”. This really isn’t me but I suppose nothing about this situation is normal

I’m just trying to limit how much I’m reading the news now and sticking to more lighthearted things to read/watch

I was like this a couple weeks back, my GP gave me a phone consultation and prescribed propranolol. Prescription was sent to my local chemist and ready to pick up by the afternoon. It’s really helped with the physical side of it

My chest is tight & throat tight. Not ill. It's anxiety and I'm trying to calm down. Heart races occasionally too.

Yep, pregnant and had to go in for monitoring yesterday. All fine but midwife said my pulse is very high. She said completely to be expected in the circumstances.

I feel a bit like that, waves of nausea, prone to tears, listlessness. And I’m a fairly no nonsense type person normally.

I was like this for a few days. Feeling afraid is truly draining. I am looking for the positives.

  1. We will be less greedy as a society now that we all know the stress of finding food..

2. Kids are delighted to have more time with parents
3. Pollution levels will massively decrease
4. Emmmmmmmm....
5. Hmmmmmm.... We will appreciate Granny more? Fuck knows.

Sorry that's it.

I have this too :( heart racing and when I lie in bed I start feeling panicky drifting off to sleep because I feel like my breathing is slowing/stopping.

Im also battling a massive cold sore too (it been about 5 years since my last one!)

Yep, not sleeping, throat tight, jaw is locking, and today my first migraine in a long time. Even DH, who is the most laid back man on the planet is suffering.

I've been generally ok, with the occasional episode of feeling like I'm having an out of body experience. I have a lot on my plate; an elderly mother in hospital who I can't visit and who won't survive the virus if she gets it, a pregnant daughter, a business that's fallen off a cliff since last week (no idea what help we qualify for), but I've been coping well until this evening when we realised the heating had gone off and the boiler has died. I've drunk too much whiskey and had a cry. Neck and shoulders feeling very tense.

Yep, not great when you're on the look out for the symptoms of a physical illness is it?

My anxiety was originally misdiagnosed as labrynthitits, I always get weird physical symptoms before I feel mentally unwell with it.

I feel like my heart is missing beats and dropping. My chest aches. Was so concerned I risked seeing the GP for blood tests and an ECG. GP says all looks normal, so I think it's anxiety.
It's very hard to avoid the news and I seem to have lost the ability to focus on anything else. I used to love reading but have no concentration. Same with films and tv - it's like watching a world that doesn't exist anymore.
I also really regret watching all the disaster movies I used to love and reading Justin Cronin's 'The Passage'!

My anxiety always manifests itself physically. I take Sertraline which helps generally, especially with my mood, but I feel like I have a constant knot in my chest at the moment and I keep getting a dry throat. I also feel breathless and I've had a few tension headaches. I saw a meme the other day which struck a cord. It said something like 'when you don't know if you are breathless because of your anxiety or you have the coronavirus!'

Yes I've had a tight chest and palpitations for the last week and its really starting to get to me. No history of anxiety or stress, and not really like me but my parents are at risk and I'm hundreds of miles away from them :( Didn't even think about my blood pressure!

It's business as usual for work as we can work from home but I'm stressed out at how we are going to juggle two peoples full time work and childcare. Our son is a toddler so can't really be left to his own devices for 8 hours. Also the anxiety is effecting my work performance as I can't deal with confrontation at all and am totally failing to be firm or decisive. Can feel my co-workers getting annoyed by it :(

I'm going to try and be more positive next week, focus on one thing at a time, and see how it goes but one thing I never realised is its exhausting being anxious all the time!

Me. Tight chest. Constant worry.

I never get worked up over anything, so this is quite new for me.

Feeling like gallstones attack for last week although had gallbladder out last year. Pain under rib cage and between boobs at bottom of rib cage, feeling of food stuck somewhere, very conscious of every twinge and tense all over...

Lots of us in the same shitty boat. I guess this must be what happens in the face of any mass crisis event for humanity, like war.

Going to make myself do at least a small amount of yoga every day this week. I stopped going to my classes a few weeks ago, but can do plenty with Youtube.

Also, I find binaural beats for relaxation helpful, for anyone who hasn't tried them - give them a go, they help me doze off. Sound baths can be very relaxing too.

I'm just coming on here as someone with lots of experience of (post trauma) anxiety to offer a little bit of reassurance.
In my experience these phyisical symptoms are very common with anxiety (I'm not medically trained and therefore not commenting on specific circumstances if you have underlying health conditions etc).
My best advice is to simply acknowledge the symptoms for what they are, don't let them worry you of themselves and know that they may be with you for a little time but that's ok, they will eventually pass.
It's entirely understandable that you are feeling anxious.
You could try an app like headspace which I find relaxes me or some deep breathing. I find distraction my best remedy. You will start to learn what works best for you in terms of managing the anxious thoughts and then the physical symptoms should slowdown too.

Completely understandable that people are experiencing bad anxiety.

This are unprecedented times for most of us who have led uneventful lives.

I've been feeling poorly for the last few days so I feel as though I haven't had to really confront reality yet. I'm worried that I'm going to slide into deep depression though.

My throat feels tight and I am not hungry (all I’ve eaten today is a small portion of sausage casserole/veg and two triangles of Christmas shortbread).
I cried twice, once in the car (needed milk so went to the - thankfully empty - petrol station) and Michael Ball played ‘you’ll never walk alone’ at the end of his radio show.
Then I had a bath and cried because I want my mum.

I keep crying especially if I talk about it.
I work in a school and spent all of Friday crying.
I can't eat and I keep having to push awful scenarios from my head.
I also can't seem to stop myself checking the news constantly.

Found my people.

Have got more nervous anxiety as the weeks gone on.
Currently awaiting clarification of if my industry will be ordered to close and have spent the whole weekend on edge. Not slept properly either this week.

Had such a bad nose bleed on Friday not long after yet another conversation regarding how much we could lose in every sense of the word Shock

I'm on anti anxiety meds although a low dose and have been for nearly two years. Started lowering the dose two weeks ago so have had the odd symptom like palpitations here and there and the stiff jaw and tension head however the last couple of days I'm having to tell myself to deep breath and to do something to relax Confused

Dh who is so laid back normally seems to be struggling this week aswel
