Sorry if this seems like a daft question but it’s been playing on my mind.

Is our water supply safe?

What makes you think it isn’t?

Healthyandhappy · 22/03/2020 19:33

Yes my husband tests water

Beaniebeemer · 22/03/2020 19:41

Thanks. I’m overly anxious that’s all

Healthyandhappy · 22/03/2020 20:21

Clean the area that the water comes from though on the tap with anti bac as loads of ppl dont xx

SuckingDieselFella · 22/03/2020 20:23

Not another scaremongering thread!

Why are you doing this, OP?

Do you get a kick out of frightening vulnerable people?

Nasty, nasty behaviour.

Beaniebeemer · 22/03/2020 20:30

I’m not scare mongering - I’m scared myself! I’m not suggesting it’s not safe I just want someone more qualified than me to confirm it. Jeez this site!

What exactly is that going to do? What is anti bac?

noblegiraffe · 22/03/2020 20:35

Yes it’s safe. There have been lots of studies done of previous coronavirus spread and the current one and there is no evidence of it being spread by food or water. People catch it from other people.

Clavinova · 22/03/2020 20:35

"Yes, your water is safe to drink. Drinking water contains a small amount of chlorine to keep it free from bacteria and viruses ensuring it’s clean and safe to drink."

borntobequiet · 22/03/2020 20:37

Yes.

Gizlotsmum · 22/03/2020 20:38

Your water supply will be chlorinated which offers protection against bacteria and viruses... It is regularly tested and well monitored. Sites are prioritised so supply will remain. If staff shortages occur priority is given to drinking water.

AnyFucker · 22/03/2020 20:39

Yes

Now please stop signposting your anxiety on this. You will scare other vulnerable people with stuff they don't need to worry about

Janemarpling · 22/03/2020 20:55

I don't think its fair that people are berating op.
We all have questions and its hard to get answers. This could be their only outlet.

So stop it. She just asked.

AnyFucker · 22/03/2020 21:00

I just answered

Janemarpling · 22/03/2020 21:13

At first

Healthyandhappy · 22/03/2020 21:13

Because ppl when cleaning kitchen dont always clean their taps that's why I said it lol

MoonlightMistletoe · 24/03/2020 12:56

I don't think it is , I mean we are told it is however I feel it's not.

PurpleDaisies · 24/03/2020 12:59

Based on what @MoonlightMistletoe?

Tiredoutteacher2020 · 24/03/2020 13:02

Please don't post stuff like this. This is how the toilet paper saga started. Social media sparking panic.

Yes our water is absolutely safe.

Mintjulia · 24/03/2020 13:12

OP, we aren't at war with agents carrying out sabotage.

As the govt originally said, at any point 20% of the population could be off sick but that means 80% of water workers will still be working. More than enough to keep the water supply running, tested and safe.

MoonlightMistletoe · 24/03/2020 13:34

Because I have been experiencing upset stomach and so has my son, however I've been informed that it's a symptom of the coronavirus so it's more than likely related to illness and not the water so ignore my last comment.

CointreauVersial · 24/03/2020 13:37

Utilities/water treatment workers are regarded as key workers, so it is "business as usual" to maintain a safe supply of water. They have procedures in place to make sure bacteria/viruses are treated in our clean water, and these are unchanged.

Stop worrying.
