Have I got this right? Living with a vulnerable person

Just trying to make sure I understand the guidance for those living with the vulnerable. If they are extremely vulnerable, anyone in the same household is supposed to be living separately in the household, doing shifts in the kitchen etc, but not shielding themselves. On an ongoing basis, at least for 12 weeks.

If living with the vulnerable but not extremely vulnerable, the guidance is harder to find. You seem to be directed to the 'what to do if you think you've got CV' guidance which again is living separately etc.

I and my brother aren't sure what he should do and we're so worried. DB lives with my parents, DF is 86 and DM is coming out of hospital tomorrow after a major stroke. DB still going out to work but I don't think he should, he doesn't either really but doesn't want to lose the job. Official position seems to be that people like him should carry on going to work but isolate within the household which I think is ridiculous. He's definitely not a key worker. Works in a factory.

Yes that's the message I've got, which is clearly ridiculous.

Yes he can still go out to work but he needs to isolate at home. He can use the kitchen seperately. Clean the loo after his use, and stay in his room, and basically make sure he stays six foot away from his parents.

Why do you think it’s ridiculous? If he follows the guidance your parents are at no risk, and the country has to keep moving and working.

The government's own guidance acknowledges at one point that if you get CV you're likely to pass it on to members of your household. And yet those living with the vulnerable are not being told to stay at home, meaning if they work and take that decision for themselves they will lose their jobs. IMO they should be told to stay at home. It needs looking at

I'm spending every waking minute worrying about this, it's awful.
