Hoping to get some perspective as myself and DP are in complete disagreement about this.

I started to get an itchy throat about 2 weeks ago, and then it became very sore over the last week. On Friday about an hour before my shift ended in work I felt very shivery, weak and achey.

Since late Friday evening I’ve had a nasty sounding cough (not completely dry, coughing up mucus). Today i feel less week but having a nasty sounding coughing fit every hour or two and have a tight chest/sinus pain. No temp at any point- always between 35.8-36.3

In all likelihood I don’t think i have Coronavirus but at the same time I don’t think i should go to work with a cough? Especially as some of the people in my small team have asthma and others look after family members who are high risk. I also travel by public transport and don’t want to spread anything to others/pick up something else?

Work aren’t keen for us to work from home, but at a push they could arrange it and I could do my job at home. What would you do?

You have a new continuous cough so according to government guidelines you must self-isolate for at least 7 days.

Of course you should isolate. You should have been isolating since Friday - if not before - along with everyone in your household. 7 days for you, 14 for them.

I haven’t gone anywhere since Friday at all- I definitely think i need to continue to isolate but DP disagrees Hmm really glad to get some reassurance I’m doing the right thing!

If your DP lives with you, they also need to isolate. For 14 days.

We are all isolating because one child had a temperature.

I’ve had similar OP and family and I have been self isolating since last Sunday, the cough is not going away and I won’t be going out until it does.

I’ve convinced DP to self isolate as well. I haven’t got much of a cough anymore but when i do it sounds awful and my chest is a little bit tight.

So 1 week isolation for me, 2 weeks for DP (who’s working from home anyway). Work wasn’t entirely impressed when i told them, but i just want to make sure I’m doing what i can to limit this. I’m not convinced I have coronavirus but I can’t be sure, and I don’t want to give whatever i have to anyone and weaken their immune system at a time like this.
