Does my mum have to claim her own SSP

My mum works for post office part time (but via a shop so she actually employed by the shop if that makes sense) she has to self isolate for 12 weeks she has COPD and my dad has heart issues (should have been in st Thomas on Thursday for heart surgery which has been cancelled 😢) her boss is being awful he wanted evidence of her copd (which the doctor has kindly done but really shouldn’t have had too as they are so busy) and he has now told her if she’s choosing to self isolate then she’ll have to claim her own ssp I can’t find anything online that supports this and everything says it’s paid by employer (she’s worked there 28 years you would think they know she’s not doing this from choice!) she wanted to hand her notice in as she’s stressing about it but I’m trying to say claim the ssp and in 12 weeks see how things are

Name and shame I can’t believe after all
