Is it ok to leave my 2 DC at home when I need to pop to the shop?

Local supermarket is a 5 minute walk and I have 2 DC. Very responsible almost 14 yo and 10 yo with additional needs. I think they would be ok for half an hour if I went to get what we need in the morning but worry that I’d be doing the wrong thing for them invade my youngest doesn’t behave for my eldest. We are choosing to stay away from others and only go out into the garden or quiet area for a walk when we can so really want to avoid taking them to a busy supermarket if possible.

Yes definitely. Leave a phone for them to contact you.

Is there anything the 10 year will sit and do?

Mine wouldn’t move with an iPad at that age.

Use that and go. They are safer at hime.

They both have a phone so would be able to contact me. I suppose I could always call as I leave the house and stay on the phone the whole time. I know that usually children of this age would be ok but my youngest has adhd and is now being re-refereed for asd too. His behaviour can be unpredictable and I worry about leaving them alone. We have no one who can help us so I need to weigh up what’s safer. I’m going with leaving them for half an hour while I pop out but just wanted others opinions. Thank you.

Would having a chat about how if you cannot go to the shop, there will be no nice food help? No treats. Eat what's in front of you or go without. That means you need him to be on his best behaviour.
