DS toddler had a high temp yesterday 38deg. Other than that seemed fine in himself. Today his temp is back to normal. Me and DP also feel absolutely fine...

DS can go to nursery tomorrow as DP is key worker (food production).

Should we be self isolating now as a family? Nursery check all kids temp and will send him home if it it high.

What if it’s nothing and then we have to go through self isolation again when we really get it?

Or do we not take the risk?

Is this serious?

AnaphylacticAnnabelle · 22/03/2020 08:00

I think the answer has to be to self isolate

Accounts I've heard say the fever can come and go -though everyone is different

Don't take the risk.

Lolling · 22/03/2020 08:02

I wouldn't take the chance sending him to nursery! If he is carrying CV it could very easily get passed to someone who could potentially die from it. Do you even need to ask??

DontBe · 22/03/2020 08:02

You have to self isolate.

Bienentrinkwasser · 22/03/2020 08:02

YABU to even consider sending him. You should all be self isolating. Children can have very mild symptoms. It doesn’t matter if you have to isolate once, or ten times. You can’t take the risk.

You say DP is a keyworker. That suggests you are not. In which case, DS doesn’t need to go to nursery at all.

Is like the whole of the U.K. have had a collective lobotomy.

Illberidingshotgun · 22/03/2020 08:02

The guidance is absolutely clear. One of your household has had a fever. You all need to self isolate for 14 days.

Badskinday · 22/03/2020 08:02

Are you a key worker? If not why is your DS going to nursery at all?

Illberidingshotgun · 22/03/2020 08:03

And yes, the majority of households are likely to go through self isolation several times, I should imagine.

PurpleDaisies · 22/03/2020 08:04

Of course you need to self isolate.

Merryoldgoat · 22/03/2020 08:05

It really is. I’m utterly despairing of people at the moment.

ScarlettBlaize · 22/03/2020 08:06

DS can go to nursery tomorrow as DP is key worker (food production).

What are you going to be doing tomorrow?

TravellingSpoon · 22/03/2020 08:06

Namechanger0800 · 22/03/2020 08:07

U all self isolate for 14 days

This is killing people - wake up

Haggisfish · 22/03/2020 08:07

Ds should be staying at home with you without having had a fever. Ffs.

SylvanianFrenemies · 22/03/2020 08:08

Do you understand that people are dying? How about if someone you love died because someone thought the rules apply to everyone but them?

Even at other times without the temp, don't send him to nursery unless you are both genuine key workers.

Toomanycats99 · 22/03/2020 08:08

My daughter had a fever last ThTs day evening. She was fine next morning - we are self isolating for 2 weeks as per instructions. Yes it's frustrating but that's how it goes!

Wiltinglillies · 22/03/2020 08:09

Are you happy for your child to pass CV19 onto a nursery full of children of keyworkers?
We have so many cases because people have been telling themselves it was just a little fever. Only a sniffle, a tiny cough.
Just do the right thing.

DontBe · 22/03/2020 08:10

If you aren’t a key worker and are staying at home DS shouldn’t be going to nursery at all.

Frazzledmum123 · 22/03/2020 08:10

I wasnt sure when my daughter had a temperature. It was only just over normal and at night after she'd had a cold for a while (with symptoms that didnt count iyswim). She had been fine before and was fine in the morning and often gets a raised temperature at night. I couldn't find anywhere online about what counts as a fever ie is it a persistent fever or one just a spike once then nothing. It might seem obvious to some but the cough has to be a persistent one and it isn't unusual for my dd. So I called 111 to ask (which I know you are only supposed to do in emergencies but my husband is a key worker and they are so short staffed). They said for us all to self isolate, one short fever is enough, hope that helps

Brenna24 · 22/03/2020 08:10

Your D's can't go to nursery AMD your DH can't go to work, especially if he is in good production. He could be spreading it to food. You all are now in isolation for 14 days.

ItsAllTheDramaMickIJustLoveIt · 22/03/2020 08:10

He needs to stay home and you all to self isolate. As others have said, unless you are also a key worker he shouldn’t even be in nursery right now.
