Have a sore throat for last day, woke up feeling worse with slight head ache etc don't really know what to do. I don't have a temp or cough you see!

Yes COVID 19 or not you obviously have a virus

Tootletum · 22/03/2020 08:31

Well, the guidelines say cough or temp. Since you have neither, no. Having said that, probably a good idea to spend a few days in anyway, then self isolate if you get a temp. Not that I've any idea how people are supposed to do that when there are no online deliveries!

Eireni · 22/03/2020 08:34

Have you checked your temperature?

andthelightsareallout · 22/03/2020 08:35

I've been isolating now for almost 2 weeks because my children have coughs and fevers. During that time though I started developing symptoms and my first ones were a sore throat and headache. Since then I've had aches, higher temp and cough. Obviously not been tested so could be a different virus but I did have the sore throat and headache for a couple of days before anything else.

Ponoka7 · 22/03/2020 08:37

We now know that thete are a range of 'first symptoms'.

They are,
Loss of sense of smell or taste,

And the attachment. So yes you should isolate.

The cough can come upto two weeks later, but usually by day nine.

"Well, the guidelines say cough or temp. Since you have neither, no."

They now don't, they've changed.

Ponoka7 · 22/03/2020 08:39

I thought my cough was a safe one because it's productive, but it might not be. Which is why we need testing.

Keepgoing88 · 22/03/2020 08:42

I don't have a temp. Does anyone have link to the new guidelines. I've been on NHS website and it still saying cough and temp to isolate only I think!

"Well, the guidelines say cough or temp. Since you have neither, no."

They now don't, they've changed.

Have they? The government website still says cough and/or fever.

Desmondo2016 · 22/03/2020 08:49

Ummm I think people are quoting memes they've seen on Facebook as 'official guidance'

Lynda07 · 22/03/2020 08:52

Yes self isolate, that's sensible for everyone if they can, but you may just have a cold. Coddle yourself indoors in the warm, be cosy.

Self isolating can be cool as long as you have plenty of supplies.

Hollywhiskey · 22/03/2020 08:54

I've had a cold for a couple of days. I have been to the shops and to a friend's house since then and my daughter still attended pre school until it closed.
The guidance is to self isolate if you have a fever or a new continuous cough. You don't have to do so for a sore throat, stuffy nose or headache.
Obviously we should all be social distancing anyway cold or no cold.

Ponoka7 · 22/03/2020 08:54

Desmondo2016, if you are referring to what i pisted, that is the official guideline of symptoms. The sense of smell and taste broke yesterday and was on the official guidance on the BBC last night.

A cough and high temperature can be days in, not at the start. But you've been contagious for two weeks before that.

Ponoka7 · 22/03/2020 08:56

But yes, social distancing and isolation from people who won't qualify for a ventilator, because that's what it comes down to.

IceKitten · 22/03/2020 08:58

How easy is it for you to self isolate OP - can you work from home? If you have DC presumably they'll be off anyway?

Basically I would self isolate if at all possible, but not otherwise based on what you've said.

Keepgoing88 · 22/03/2020 10:12

I work in a school and classed as key worker. I'm only in one day next week though.

"Basically I would self isolate if at all possible, but not otherwise based on what you've said."

So that goes against the upto date advice.

OP what day are you in work this week? If not tomorrow use your occupational health, who will tell you to not come into work.

IceKitten · 22/03/2020 11:25

No, it doesn't go against up to date advice, as she doesn't have a cough or temperature.
