Health visitors

All health visitors are qualified nurses or midwifes.

Do you think they will be redeployed to work in hospitals?

The focus of their work is public health and enacting the "Healthy Child Programme '" basically trying to get in there while kids are young....so they grow up to be healthy and happy contributing adults.

It's a great scheme. I feel incredibly lucky to live in the uk. But what might happen if this goes on ??? Will health visitors be forced to work in hospitals ??? Surely they don't have the clinical skills for that?

It's all crazy

HV's come from a variety of backgrounds. I guess it's down to them what they do during the current situation. I got an email today saying I won't be seeing mine for the time being and my baby won't be getting his next review as it's unnecessary contact.

You could always ask sure what they're doing if you're so interested.

Are you a HV or are you enquiring on behalf of one or are you saying you are going to miss yours?

My HV has cancelled appointments indefinitely because they are going back to acute nursing. On the one hand it’s a good thing, but on the other I am glad I’m not vulnerable/struggling and need their support.

HVs in our area have received a training schedule for the next few weeks as it is highly likely they will be returning to the hospital to work. I’m not sure if this will be the same for HVs that are Midwives but our trust are asking for as many registered nurses as possible.

We have been pulled out of face to face contacts other than newbirths & 6 weeks. All other apts are being carried out over the phone unless there is a history of safeguarding risk.

We are down to the absolute bare bones staff wise with many of us having to work from home, it’s going to be a difficult few weeks, I think particularly for the families that really do rely on us, not sure what this means for them tbh.
