Ds has a cough!

I really don't want to jump on the hysteria bandwagon, but ds has had a cough developing over the last 2 days, no temperature but is saying his throat hurts.

I will give 111 a call, however I've looked on the nhs website, just for a little guidance and it's just saying to stay home, which I understand as not to spread the virus but if this is such a serious illness why am I not allowed to see a medical professional when they're always telling to self diagnose?

I really do not feel comfortable with not knowing what exactly is wrong with my child and that they seem to be very blase about testing, what if its something else he has?

We have been isolating under government guidelines, other than a quick trip to asda for a few things we've been indoors since Tuesday, so will continue to do so

Yes we are isolating, I went to asda on Tuesday which was the last day I had at work before losing my job and the last day my children went to school before I made the decision to take them out and isolate Smile ds has had a sore throat since Thursday evening and a cough over the weekend, whilst being in the house.

If someone is ill enough to need medical attention then obviously you contact the Dr or hospital to seek help, but giving them prior warning that you may have covid 19. My mum is NHS frontline, unfortunately people are presenting themselves with a cough or fever that could be managed at home. They are exposing and potentially infecting NHS staff unnecessarily, this means that when things really kick off in the coming weeks a large number of staff will be off sick.

Do NOT give him ibuprofen. Stick with parecetamol, if he needs something.

But what do you want them to say?

You already know the advice, do not add to the pressure they are under.

If it turns into tonsillitis then it does, there is no way they can know if it will or not. Just keep an eye on him
