Is a sore throat a symptom?

DD has been complaining of a sore throat. No fever, cough and completely fine otherwise. NHS and everywhere only mention fever and new persistent cough for self isolation, but after a trip down the rabbit hole I've seen sore throats, runny nose, any type of cough etc being mentioned.

It can involve a sore throat but that's not an identifying symptom, iyswim.
Won't she be at home anyway?

I have a sore throat and a cough But it's not a key symptom

Yes it could be a symptom, or it could just be a sore throat. Self isolate your family and try not to worry.

It is not mentioned as one of the main symptoms. However, when I went to collect a prescription for an elderly neighbour on Friday from our GP surgery (they dispense their own drugs), a staff member on the door asked me 4 questions before i was allowed in. 3 related to the well publicised symptoms, the 4th was did I have a sore throat!

I'm a key worker so we both would've been in on Monday. Symptoms wise it's a cold, but because she's started coughing (not dry) this morning that settles it. I've let work know and will inform her school tomorrow morning. Thank you.
