Worried about DS(7)

Just here for someone to talk too,

DS 7 - has cold symptoms/ fever and sore throat, very dry cough for a week, he caught it off his sister who we thought had hand/foot/mouth, she recovered after a week and is fine but DS although no more fevers is taking these awful hard, grasping breaths intermittently and his 'normal' periods of breathing sound raspy/wheezy.

He's saturating normally at 97-98 (I have a monitor) DH is phoning 111 on the advice of their online checker but no humans are available to talk too so hits ringing and ringing. (Not a complaint, I understand)

My other concern is if this was C19 then he would have passed it onto my child with cystic fibrosis and significant lung damage and I would have passed it on to all my clients (I'm a dementia community support worker)

I'm so scared.

I have no words of advice for you, but didn't want to leave you unanswered.

Did you manage to talk to anyone on 111? What does he say his breaths feel like? How is he this evening?

Can you or he be tested (given your job).

I am sorry to be so useless, all I can do is lend an ear and a hand hold

No, I waited and waited but didn't get though. I have put him to bed with calpol and can only keep watch,
He's asleep and breathing slightly better but still not amazing, he's fine in himself, playing, eating, drinking etc.
I don't know what to do, keep watch I guess and call 999 if it gets worse.
DS1 (my dc with cf) has a very sore throat and fever now.
I've had a cry locked in the bathroom and not will pull myself together and watch them all like hawks. Thank you.

Why did you think hand foot and mouth?

My 4yo had possible covid
Fever for a few days
Small vomit on day 2
About 7th day cough.
And got a strange rash under nose with green snot.

DD (4) had a fever and sore mouth/throat but her mouth had blisters in, a few days later she had spots around her mouth and on her hands and feet, after 5/6 days she was back to normal.

How are your dc this morning OP?

How are you?

TitsalinaBumSquash · 22/03/2020 12:23

DS is marginally better, I never did get through to 111.
However DS1 (15 ur old with cystic fibrosis) is on the local peads ward, they've swabbed him for C19 and are giving him fluids, antisickness and will start oral antibiotics as a precaution, his throat is very swollen and inflamed and bleeding and he's vomiting a lot, his fever is high and he's struggling to be awake.

How very worrying for you.

Your poor ds, that sounds horrendous. Hopefully it won't be long before the medication takes effect and he starts to feel more comfortable.

Are you allowed to be with him? Try to remember to look after yourself too

TheShoesa · 29/03/2020 17:40

I've just realised it's a week since your DS1 was hospitalised OP. How are things this weekend? Much better I hope.

littlemissmuffins · 29/03/2020 18:10

Also hoping things are going well for your DC xx

Sexnotgender · 29/03/2020 18:18

How’s your DS now?

Scootingthebreeze · 29/03/2020 18:20

How are things going? Really hope you're all well now and your son is out of hospital Flowers

TitsalinaBumSquash · 30/03/2020 06:14

Thank you, sorry for not coming back sooner.

My older DS (the one with CF) came home the same day, he was really quite bad for 3 days but then woke up like nothing had happened, his CV swab was negative, they're only 75 percent accurate though so we're still in isolation.

My 7 ye old DS has some breathing issues so we took him to a&e (on the advice of GP) he's now on inhalers and antibiotics and does seem to be making slow improvements each day.

Everyone else seems ok at the moment. Thanks for checking in. Smile

Really pleased to hear that Titsalina what a massive relief for you all.

A bit off topic, but my younger two both have pollen related wheezing - possibly asthma - which didn't really show itself until they were 6 or 7. We don't use any inhalers over the winter months at all, but once we get towards spring we start using the preventers daily and relievers as needed. That said, we started the preventers early this year as a precaution.

What a relief for you all!
