Just been reading about the COVID bill - legal requirements to provide the contents of EHCPs and adult social care will essentially be eradicated if the bill passes until it’s no longer needed which could be two years.

I’ve been fighting the LA to get EHCPs and specialist provision for my twins since July. They were supposed to confirm their specialist school just as all of this kicked off. Even if they named the placement we wanted, the changes in this bill mean the setting wouldn’t have to take them (I don’t mean during closures, I mean at all). The impact on the rest of their lives of missing out on specialist early intervention could be enormous and I’m so worried about this.
I know what people will say, extraordinary times etc and I do completely understand that. Just really worried for our children and others like them, and the adults reliant on social care. I think the effects of this longterm wlll be horrendous.
Of course I’m worried about everyone’s health and the impact on the economy, people losing jobs and homes, self employed people etc too. I just feel so helpless and frustrated after fighting for so long.
Sorry, just needed to vent really.
