Covid
TTC (trying to conceive)

I was planning to come off the pill at Easter and begin ttc. I’m 34 and have a nearly 6yo DD from previous relationship, no DC with my current partner. Is anyone else ttc during this pandemic crisis? Putting it off/on hold? I’m unsure as to whether I should come off the pill and see what happens, or put it off and wait.

I just had this advert at the bottom of my thread- maybe a subliminal message?!

Candyfloss99 · 21/03/2020 12:54
I would definitely put it off. NHS will be stretched enough as it is.
Parkandride · 21/03/2020 12:55
Fertility treatment is cancelled due to this as they don't know the effect on unborn babies. Probably best not to do to much that means your medical needs increase either. It sucks. Can you come off the pill so you're ready when things calm down?

Already some threads on this www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/3855308-Trying-for-a-baby-and-Coronavirus

I wouldn't purposefully do anything right now that would require me to have any extra medical appointments

Thanks for the replies. Those are the two things I was concerned about- the added workload to the NHS and the risk of infection to a baby.
I’ve seen a few threads and memes joking about how being in quarantine is going to lead to a baby boom from people having to stay indoors and having nothing else to do but lots of sex and that the generation would be known as the “quaranteenies” (lighthearted I know).
But I actually think it will have the opppsite effect and the birth rate will drop- people like me deciding to delay ttc, fertility treatment cancelled, not wanting to add workload to nhs, concerns over infection to baby, plus people losing their jobs or losing out financially.

Don't do it. We were thinking of trying for another this year but there is no way in hell I would do it now.
A) I don't want to have to go anywhere near a hospital while this disease is spreading, I do not want to catch it.
B) the NHS is going to be so overburdened for the next year or so, it's frankly irresponsible for people to knowingly try to conceive right now.
C) The nhs is going to be so overburdened that i would seriously worry about the quality of care I would receive.
D) they have told pregnant women they are vulnerable so why would you want to become pregnant right now?!
floatygoat · 21/03/2020 13:42
Oh yes and
E) our own financial future now uncertain.
F) we are due a big economic depression imminently due to this pandemic.
Connie222 · 21/03/2020 13:44
Wait.
I’m 16 weeks pregnant and I wish to God I could turn back the clock and not have conceived. It’s quite frightening being pregnant at this time.

Thanks for these replies. @Connie222 hope all is ok throughout your pregnancy.
