So today is my birthday, in 2 days I am supposed to have an urgent 2 week wait hospital appointment, my mind is in overdrive and I just need to get out of this negative headspace.
Anyone got any words of wisdom, perspective, apps, techniques ect..
I'm so anxious about this whole situation as many of us are. I worry for my elderly relatives, family abroad, my children, my partner.
I can't see the light at the end of the tunnel. I cant seem to think of anything else. Can we just share some positivity here please! Jokes, lightheartedness, anything.

Stop reading everything ( I bet you are glued to the screen)
Get a plan. Learn something new.
It's ok , lots to take in, lots of adapting to do, so don't stress feeling a bit overwhelmed at times

Yes I am terrible for watching the news.. only reputable sources but it's scary and everywhere. I have turned off notifications for news sites and will be homeschooling my son from monday so that gives me more focus.
Its draining. My rational brain says what will be will be, trust the experts. My little inner voice swears alot, panics and feels like shes losing control. It varies.

No advice but joining as I feel the same, no one seems to have any hope at all do they?
BBCONEANDTWO · 20/03/2020 22:48
What is your urgent appointment for - that possibly makes a lot of difference urgent cancer patients are still being seen.
AvocadoPrime · 20/03/2020 22:51
No there doesn't seem to be much hope at all. Maybe jokes instead. Just somewhere to find humour when its needed!
My appointment is for breast clinic so not been cancelled. Although I am tempted to cancel as don't particularly want to be in the hospital.

I sort of flitting between being pissed off, upset, disheartened, worried...
I've turned my front room into a kind of nursery (have 1 & 2 year old Dd's) so am trying to keep busy entertaining them, YouTube music/ nursery rhymes...I have got a splitting headache tho!
I'd like some 'upbeat' too Op! Currently googling to make a weekly planner for me and Dd's, Monday make biscuits, ABCs, Dance session...Tuesday 'Window Cress'....and so on...
NO MORE NEWS! I'll listen to the 'updates', but I cant listen to the economic disaster & Boris Drivel anymore....
Taddda · 20/03/2020 23:02
I have abdominal adhesions (after EMCS), have waited 6 months for an appointment with possible scar tissue removal needed- been in alot of pain and had swelling for a year- its next month and I'm planning on cancelling too OP.
Chelsea567 · 20/03/2020 23:08
I feel better now I've stopped watching the news except for Boris update at 5pm. I also felt better when I didn't read Mumsnet for a whole day! So much scaremongering on here I know it's awful and frightening but panicking is not going to help. Stay at home. Try not to let your imagination run wild. Keep busy. Circle of influence. Don't stress about things outside your control. Lots of amazing positive things on social media as people and businesses step up to help others restores my faith that we will look after each other.
AvocadoPrime · 20/03/2020 23:10
Tada.. your weekly planner idea sounds fab. I'm sure the kids will love it and it gives you a way to distract yourself also! I sat and made 'lesson' plans today and found that quite fun.
Agree on the news I don't think I am going to watch it anymore. I'll read the updates instead.
It's a very hard call regarding hospital appointments. If you're in pain it's obviously best to go and I know I should go to my appointment too. It just seems risky, also I dont think I could cope with more bad news!
Taddda · 20/03/2020 23:18
@AvocadoPrime I can manage the pain, I don't think I could manage bad news! (I hate to say this but have a two lumps, under arm and throat- small but there was an anomaly during one of Dd2's many scans that they thought fibroid, but possibly something else, they didnt bother to follow it up anyway...change of subject....). I feel okay right now.
Weekly planner....! 👍
