How long do you think pubs and restaurants will be shut and we are recommended to work from home?

Boris was emphatically saying we will get this under control in 12 weeks.

Apparently things will be on and off for over a year. Boris was being very optimistic.

Boris is a fool. It's going to be a very long road.

Until 15-07 on the 4th of September, or how long is a piece of string.

I think until summer, but there will be a huge second surge in winter

At what cost though? I mean to lives, not financially.

I think we'll be paying for his initial "Keep Calm & Carry On" stance for months, if not years to come.

Until at least this time next year.
Although I fear our government will try and force everybody back to work and school far too soon, thus causing a huge second outbreak.

Our director at work said we should expect to work remotely for up to 6 months

It will be over when the virus stops spreading (as with China) or when we develop an effective vaccine.

It could be as soon as this summer or 18 months away.

Once everybody comes out of lockdown won't it just kick off again, the virus isn't just going to die off is it?

Hair will need to be cut, teeth pulled or straightened, other illnesses tended to, new shoes bought, crimes brought to court, and so on.

I do not believe that the current (I'm in Ireland so we're on day 8) level of isolation can continue for more than three weeks. While most businesses have voluntarily closed here, there are a few who have stayed open which, along with campervan and tourists driving around, is galling for those of us whose lives and incomes are on hold in a bid to help slow this spread. I think by day 21 those not earning will need to start to, the banks here have just implemented new charges and will keep on expecting their money. We cannot stagnate forever.

That said, I guess nobody knows. There were so many suicides during the last recession I cannot imagine this episode having any less of an effect on mental health. I am scared of the virus but I am also scared of a repeat of the terrible depression that endured here from 2008 to 2015 (for us to recover).
