Covid
How do you deep clean?

We may have CV in the house.
DS18 suddenly complained of a 'raging' sore throat about 2 hours ago. Has had a headache all day. And sneezing, which often happens, randomly (hay fever-ish).
No cough, don't really think he has a temperature.
So treating it as CV. 😳 Cleared out the family bathroom, wiped everything (all flat surfaces, bath, sink, loo, floor) down with a bleach/ water solution and allowed to dry.
What concentration of bleach should I use?
I intend washing the microfibre cloths I'm using as I don't have many. Presumably 90 degrees?
Separate cutlery and crockery, towel.
Anything else?

I should add I know how to do a hospital deep clean (using acticlor, 1 tab to 1 litre of water, clean all flat hard surfaces. Allow to dry.
But with household bleach, is it the same?
LittleMonstersMummy · 20/03/2020 20:18
That sounds like a cold, not CV.
But for cleaning, Milton is wonderful.
Theyrecomingtotakemeawayhaha · 20/03/2020 20:24
You need soap and water and a thorough clean of all hard surfaces but mainly things that people touch a lot like door, cupboard handles, light switches,Bannister's.
Soap and water or 70%alcohol is what kills it,it will is not as hard to kill as many other bugs in n hospitals. It spreads because we have no immunity.

Sounds like a cold as it's supposed to be a dry cough, not sneezing and runny nose. Also fever.
However it's good you're getting practice in. I'm going to do a deep clean soon and thinking mainly bleach where I can. Checked today and all the dettol wipes are gone, dettol spray, Milton. You name it. I think keep all surfaces as clear as possible so a quick wipe clears viruses. You don't need a deep clean if your assuming he has CV, but you do need regular cleaning of flat surfaces, door handles, separate crockery (or dishwasher it) separate towels, isolate in own room, then deep clean when you think he's over it. Alcohol wipes are ideal, but they're all sold out. Everything's sold out. Oh, had wash your hands every 2 hours. Set an alarm.
Still think it's a cold.
Theyrecomingtotakemeawayhaha · 20/03/2020 21:26
It really is soap. The virus 'envelopes' are made of proteins and lipids.Destroy the envelope and the virus rapidly dacays.Lipids are fats and dispersed by soap. That is why this is the wash of choice for hands, the things we use the most.
Bleach is overkill and your surfaces will only be bleached properly,if that what makes you feel better ,only works if you remove dirt off the surfaces first.
goldpartyhat · 21/03/2020 10:20
@Theyrecomingtotakemeawayhaha Is soap good enough though on surfaces? If we have to wash our hands for 20 seconds with soap to break down the outside of the virus, can you replicate that on a hard surface? All I have is bleach and washing up liquid, as everything was sold out.
7Days · 21/03/2020 10:31
Does washing up liquid count as soap for cleaning purposes? I would imagine it does, "grease busting formula " = breakdown of lipids. If so, what is the ratio?
Genvonklinkerhoffen · 21/03/2020 10:35
Anything like soap, shower gel, washing up liquid. The 20sec is because hands are complex with books and crannies.
Miljea · 21/03/2020 19:01
How does household bleach work on it, the 🦠out of interest?
