So if all my colleagues are now set up for wfh and the big boss says we have to all come into the office, work standard hours and have group meetings and coronavirus spreads through the work force.....

could we have the right to raise a grievance?

Office could be run with small teams working in shifts And everyone else wfh.

I just feel it’s unnecessary to be in and puts people and their families at risk

AIBU

I’m actually so cross I’ve worked my arse off to get all the tech n employees up to speed in a week after years of lip service and under investment and we are going to use the remote working tools..... in the office

bump so it looks like a popular thread >.<

Can we sue them or threaten to?

OP posts:
midgebabe · 20/03/2020 19:06

I don't know about sue, but I would be asking exactly what basis there is for ignoring official advice to work from home if at all possible . Ask him if the company insurance is still valid!

ErrolTheDragon · 20/03/2020 19:53

A grievance? Sounds like he may end up facing criminal negligence charges.

LittleLittleLittle · 20/03/2020 19:57

You would have a right to report them to whatever agency does health and safety for your company.

Maybe you should all come in for one day/one meeting then 80-90% of you should all need to self-isolate for the next 2 weeks.

LittleLittleLittle · 20/03/2020 19:57

Sorry just noticed the weatherman is not reading the weather in the studio.

TumbleBingQuack · 20/03/2020 19:58

NC but I'm in the same boat. The company type is on the list of key workers but my team and I are back office staff. We can do our jobs identically remotely but are being told we must send kids to child care and come into work.

50% of the team are at increased risk.

I'm livid, and very worried about might happen.

ErrolTheDragon · 20/03/2020 20:06

Are your managers control freaks or actually insane?ConfusedAngry

I guess this will have to have emergency legislation applied to it to.

knickerthief1 · 20/03/2020 20:07

This was the same at my work until I intervened. I swear the decision was being made because 2 of the managers don't like spending time with their partners!!

AngeloftheSnorth · 20/03/2020 20:12

Lol knickthief!

I’ve been advised to ask for individual risk assessments, a duty of care plan and a report detailing how they are meeting government recommended guidelines

I actually have another job to go to which is a huge promotion, different company I’m just working notice and so I guess I have more I can say - I’m just usually the happy helpful ones

Anyone at risk can legally self isolate can't they?

When can't people dial in or use Teams for a meeting?

Perhaps by Monday you will
Have a cough...

I have gladly gone into the office but there are only 10% of us in all spread out and being ultra careful and it's through choice.

AngeloftheSnorth · 20/03/2020 20:12

I’m so angry though so angry for my colleagues and my mum I want to see but can’t

OP posts:
AngeloftheSnorth · 20/03/2020 20:21

I might do but I am on top of of a soap box on moral high ground hill

So I set up wfh, it’s my baby and it will help people and I want to make them see it’s for the best

OP posts:
TumbleBingQuack · 20/03/2020 20:57

I'm very tempted to have a cough by Monday, but then what happens if later down the line we actually come down with something?

The company owners are lining their own pockets at the expense of our health unfortunately.

AngeloftheSnorth · 20/03/2020 21:20

It’s wrong though isn’t it?

Though I’ve been told in real life I should be grateful I’ll still have a job which made me feel a bit crap I know nhs n unemployed have it much.worse I just want this all to not be happening 😭

For the good of yourself and your colleagues- you need to 'have' Coronavirus symptoms (fever and persistent cough) from Sunday/Monday. Advise your workplace to deep clean and to request to your boss that your colleagues work from home until health and safety say it's safe to reopen.

RandomMess · 20/03/2020 21:32

Self isolate with headaches/cough etc or someone that you live with then prove how the WFH is working just fine...
