Kids on the street

Some of the children on my street go to a different school - they closed yesterday. They’ve been playing out with a ball today - so tackling each other etc. Whilst it’s nice to see, am I wrong in thinking that they shouldn’t be doing this? I’m worried mine will see and want to join in.

They shouldn't be out there. The parents are irresponsible and selfish

I don’t know why they are out as they all have siblings near their own ages and all have gardens, so could just stay in their family spaces. I think I will see what happens next week and remind them. We have an old man who sometimes comes onto the street and I don’t want them near him.

My anxiety is bad right now so I was worried I was overthinking it.

Completely agree! I just got home and saw groups of teens hanging around. Mine are home and I won’t be allowing them out like that to socialise.

Youngest had the neighbours kids asking for them to come out and play this morning too Shock
Maybe I am being OTT, but playing out is not socially distancing or helping any of us!

The advice today wasn't very clear. They should have said that all children should stay at home.

In Ireland, guidance is that small groups of children can play together while observing social distancing. So football etc. Not that many are doing it from what I can see.

There's literally no point closing schools if parents are going to let their kids play outside with other kids.

"During a Downing Street briefing, Dr Harries said it was important to strike a balance between maintaining physical and mental wellbeing during the pandemic.

When asked about children going outside, she said: "For example keeping two metres apart, off for a bike ride together or something, that is absolutely fine.

"And in many ways, we would encourage that."

But she recommended that children should keep hold of their own bikes, wash their hands regularly and continue to catch coughs and sneezes in a tissue."

Copied from the Evening Standard. No wonder people are confused .
