Covid
I think DS has it...
Miljea · 20/03/2020 18:15
😳 Fuck fuck fuck. He's been sniffing all day (I know, not a symptom), but he does often get hay fever symptoms at weirdly random times in a year. So, no concern.
But he's just told me he has a raging sore throat.
He's 18.
Fuck fuck fuck.
I'm an NHS CT radiographer.
Kittykat93 · 20/03/2020 18:17
I don't think the sniffles and a sore throat are major symptoms? Just sounds like a normal cold/virus not necessarily CV
itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted · 20/03/2020 18:24
There doesn't seem to be any clear direction as to whether a stuffy nose is a symptom or not - lots of sources say no and then some do
To be honest it sounds like the high temperature one is the main marker so If he doesn't have that then he's probably ok
Miljea · 20/03/2020 20:17
No, not a high temperature. Unsure if he is warmer than usual. He runs warm!
Miljea · 21/03/2020 07:00
OK, sore throat, no cough, temperature of 38.1. Breathing fine (but he's only 14 hours in from the first symptom).
I think this qualifies as CV!
Nogodsnomasters · 21/03/2020 07:25
The temperature is not a great sign but with extremely sore throat it could easily be bacterial tonsillitis or quinsy (sp?). If he starts with a dry cough I'd be more inclined to say it's highly likely to be CV. He needs to isolate now anyway as do your whole family due to his fever, for 14 days. That is the government guidance at the moment.
Miljea · 21/03/2020 15:33
Hmm. DS2; Temp is 37.2 now (has paracetamol 3 hours ago); still has 'a bit of a headache', throat less sore.
Proper lunch; now playing Minecraft.
Other DS1, 20, came home from uni on Weds eve, asymptomatic; so 48 hours later, last night, was when DS2 developed his sore throat and headache; then a temp of 38.1 this morning. Runny nose.
This morning DS1 also has a runny nose, sounds 'blocked up', but no temperature or sore throat.
I have a slightly sniffy nose.
Don't know what to think!
Wish I could get DS2 tested, then we'd know what we were up against!
Bellabelloo · 21/03/2020 16:04
We will all still be getting all of the usual bugs going round too.
Miljea · 21/03/2020 18:58
Thanks everyone. I'm inclining towards a cold, too.
I am mildly symptomatic but with what might be the beginnings of a head cold. Slightly runny nose, bit of a headache; itchy, soapy feeling at the debacle of my nose. No sore throat, no temperature.
DS2 says he thinks he might be a bit hot but is gaming away in a fleece hoody (in 'isolation' 😊) but the -ahem- digital (meat) 😂thermometer (as per MN) won't pick up anything above 36.6 on him, and he had to consider the question of whether his throat still hurt.
God, I wish there was testing! I'd get him tested tonight and know whether I can safely go to work on Monday. As noted, not for any heroics or praise- but as an NHS radiographer!
Miljea · 21/03/2020 18:59
'Debacle' of my nose? What a great autocorrect! 'The back of' my nose! 😂
WaitroseIsMySpiritualHome · 21/03/2020 22:46
I had a sore throat for four days last week. Headache, achey joints and really tired. DD felt the same the week before. It came to nothing. We are self-isolating anyway, but just because Corona is out there, it doesn't mean everything else has gone away. All the usual bugs are still out there too...
Glassio · 21/03/2020 22:48
sounds like cv and should definately be assumed and treated as it.
I have nhs friends who are confirmed cases and none had a temperature.
Miljea · 22/03/2020 09:40
Today no temperature, sore throat gone, mild headache, runny nose, occasional sneeze.
Never had a cough, shortness of breath, muscles aching.
It was a cold, wasn't it?
Lucky 'your NHS friend'. I don't know a single one who has been able to access a test!
Miljea · 22/03/2020 09:40
Oh, and I'm feeling fine! (The symptoms I listed are of my DS).

Strawberry that does tick a lot of boxes! Hope she's fully recovered.
