Ventured out today for the first time in over a week (I work from home, my elderly mother lives with us, so trying to self-isolate as much as possible). Was pleasantly surprised to see ALDI quite well stocked with veg and bread, less pleasantly surprised to observe some people standing too close to those in front of them at the checkout for no reason (plenty of space), not looking where they were going while walking (hence upping the risk of bumping into someone), and in some cases seeming to behave as though none of this is going on. And all this just on a short walk from car to shop and back again. I felt quite vulnerable, and I'm not even (touch wood) in a part of the country that's been very heavily hit so far.
I don't want to sound like a curmudgeon and I know these are frightening times for everyone. Maybe there's a bit of denial going on, I dunno - I suspect it's more likely that it's easy to forget, when we're out and about and there are still a fair few people around, as there were today. (Biggish village, not a city centre or anything.) But still - you'd think people would be a little more mindful in the circumstances, surely? Is it just me who's noticed this?
