Help! Need official proof of need to isolate

nicky2512 · 20/03/2020 14:37

As above! We are isolating as dd has health issues (asthma and CFS) and is recovering from a nasty chest infection.
I only work part time but I need to send some sort of evidence that I should isolate. Something from an official website would be fine. I’m sure her doctor would vouch for what we are doing but obviously that’s not something I can sort now.
Everything I see is reasons for your own isolation. I need something to say why I should be isolating too.
I would be very grateful if someone could help.

Tell them to watch the fking news. Knobheads. Thats really lousy and i feel for you.

QueenOfPain · 20/03/2020 14:40

Well you could ring your GP surgery and ask them to get the GP to ring you. There’s no reason why you can’t.

Online Isolation Notes are available here;

Your employer should accept that.

Deux · 20/03/2020 14:42

Here is the guidance and if you scroll down there is a link for a sales isolation note.

MrsCVorFluWhoKnows · 20/03/2020 14:48

I'm not sure any of these are helpful, don't think OP or her DD has CV symptoms. Apologies if wrong.

Aveino · 20/03/2020 14:54

The advice on the gov website says that your daughter should practise “stringent social distancing;” currently, self-isolation is only for those with symptoms.

nicky2512 · 20/03/2020 14:55

Just looking at them. No MrsCVorFluWhoKnows is right. Dd is higher risk and we are isolating as my job is in a school. No point keeping her in for weeks if I’m going to be potentially exposed every day. So hard.

There is no guidance saying you should self isolate if you're in a vulnerable group, so you're not going to find anything.

LittleDragonGirl · 20/03/2020 15:04

Schools shut today anyway didnt they?

LittleDragonGirl · 20/03/2020 15:05

If your dd is at home explain that you need to stay home to be with her as shes too young to be left unsupervised? Or request WFH if it's possible within your job role? Potentially be prepared to not get paid for being off with you child though. Unfortunately I've seen this happen to a few friends >.

Aveino · 20/03/2020 15:09

That said, the papers are today reporting that from Monday, those who are vulnerable, with underlying health conditions, will be asked to move from “stringent social distancing” to “self isolation,” regardless of whether they have symptoms.

nicky2512 · 20/03/2020 15:09

Thanks. I think I will just have to lose my pay too.
Dd is old enough to be alone. I can’t work from home and our school is staying open for key workers children.
It ok. Thank you all for the help.

Of course there isConfused

Spam88 · 20/03/2020 15:16

Where @MrsPelligrinoPetrichor ? The nhs and government websites say to pay particular attention to the advice for social distancing. The only people being told to self-isolate at this time are those with symptoms and others in their household.

Aveino · 20/03/2020 16:00

No @MrsPelligrinoPetrichor - you are getting confused between social distancing and self isolation. As of today, self isolation is only for those with symptoms, and others in their household.

nicky2512 · 20/03/2020 16:48

Thank you all so much. It just seems silly to risk her health by keeping her safe in the house but potentially bringing it home to her.
I will just go awol for a while!! We are going to be living on air anyway!

MrsCVorFluWhoKnows · 20/03/2020 17:19

Can't you say she has a cough? little white lie

You're not actually lying if she's getting over a chest infection? Then you go into isolation too.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 20/03/2020 18:43

The only people being told to self-isolate at this time are those with symptoms and others in their household

So people with underlying health conditions don't need to self isolate for 12 weeks now?

Did your GP email you telling you your daughter should isolate for 12 weeks? My friend and my dad got one, surely that's evidence?

ShellsAndSunrises · 20/03/2020 18:51

I think this is as close to evidence as you’ll get.

ShellsAndSunrises · 20/03/2020 18:51

(Although I think the asthma has to be “severe” to qualify for an email. Not sure about the CFS)

PYyy · 20/03/2020 18:54

My dad has been told to self isolate for 12 weeks due to very bad asthma.

His Dr sent him the confirmation that he qualifies for the flu jab because of it, copies of letters/prescriptions about his various inhalers etc... And this has been enough for his employer (he is a frontline keyworker).

nicky2512 · 20/03/2020 19:33

No - no email. Asthma probably not bad enough though she gets the flu jab. I will check with surgery at some point but otherwise I have calmed down a bit. If tonight’s announcement definitely means dh will get 80% pay then I can manage fine without mine!

OP posts:
PYyy · 20/03/2020 20:42

Nicky, just be careful, the way I understand it is the governments announcement means your DH will get 80% pay providing their employer keeps him on. If he gets made redundant or loses his job then he won't get that 80%.

Seems to be down to employer discretion unfortunately.
