Childcare/school, would you use it?

My dp is a key worker (nhs ). I am not, but I do need to work from home to keep my job, from Monday this is going to be extremely tricky and stressful for us with children at home. I don't see how I can be cool, cleaner, teacher and hold down a job. Obviously I can't split the childcare load with dp like others can because he's out at work.

We do have the opportunity to use an out of school childcare service (we'd need to pay for it). But is it too risky/stupid to send my children? I was thinking one day per week to let me get some focused work done. Would you send you children if you had the choice? In one hand I think great it'll be good for them too and on the other I don't want to be part of the problem or for dc to get sick.

Children and me have no underlying health issues. Dp does medications which suppress his immune system but he's working in the hospital anyway. We're not seeing any other family or friends at the moment.

Dp won’t be working 24 hours though. Do you have to work full time? Can you work when Dp is off work or evenings?
How old are the kids?

Everybody is in the same situation though, lots of single parents trying to work from home and now also care for children. Just be realistic about what you can achieve, you are not expected to home school your kids they can watch telly and entertain themselves while you work. Also no one will be suprised if work calls are interrupted by children.
The advice is to keep all children at home where it is safe to do so. You are home so it is safe. Do your bit.

No dp won't be working 24 hours but realistically he won't be able to pick up the slack like he usually does as he's going above and beyond at the moment.

We're being offered childcare, if I don't take the space someone else will. if it was so much of a risk they wouldn't be able to open?

No, personally I wouldn't.

DH is a key worker. I am working from home, but there is a meeting later with those further up the food chain about how to, 'deal with,' the employees who work from home now that the schools are closed.

They can make me take time off, unpaid, to look after the children but not sure they will force the issue, as loyalty cuts both ways.

I don't want to be part of the problem

So don't be. Some of us have children who are too young to be left, and are both on the critical worker list. We really don't have a choice.
