I was going to order a paddling pool and some bits and bobs to keep the kids entertained in the Summer - does anyone think being able to order this type of product is going to be a thing of the past for the foreseeable future?

I've been getting my none essential items delivered.

I think if the items are already in stock on Prime they will be okay, but they will be 'when it's gone its gone' items as they won't order more in if you see what I mean?

Scruffyoak · 20/03/2020 07:57

I got batteries yesterday.

LightAsTheBreeze · 20/03/2020 08:04

It looks like that they won’t be Prime, fulfilled by Amazon but third party sellers can still sell on there but not use Amazon warehouse, packaging and delivery services, this is when stocks run out

It is good to read that they are going to pay their hourly paid staff £2 ph extra in April though.

LightAsTheBreeze · 20/03/2020 08:08

Probably best to get stuff in now from anywhere though, we got a large Wickes delivery yesterday and I ordered some paint from F&B as who knows what might close next. DH mentioned getting a thing for his bike so he can use it in the garage and I told him not to faff about too long getting it or they would be gone

It's sickening that while the high street shops and other businesses are in melt down Amazon is booming and will emerge bigger and stronger than ever. There needs to be a massive Amazon tax to help pay for all this.

Hellbentwellwent · 20/03/2020 08:19

Don’t use amazon, there are plenty of online retailers. I’m teaching remotely to my fe students and it’s a practical course. I’ve sourced all the materials they need from smaller uk companies and sent them links rather than letting them just go onto amazon. A lot of retailers have offers on now to boost sales, with all the links I sent it worked out cheaper for the students to buy their supplies my way than through amazon plus we’re supporting more local businesses.

IceBearRocks · 20/03/2020 08:24

@HellBentWentWell send us the links then.......I'm happy not to use Amazon!

I ran out of heating oil yesterday (our fault for not checking the levels sooner!!!!) and can't get more delivered before next week.
So I ordered a couple of electric heaters from Amazon, both on Prime, one due to arrive today and the other tomorrow. Really hope to get at least the first one cause the house is freezing!

floatygoat · 20/03/2020 09:39

Thanks everyone. But does this count as panic buying? Grin

I've still been getting Amazon orders (excluding food, pantry items) next day, but I'm in London.

LightAsTheBreeze · 20/03/2020 10:49

Just ordered a belt hook on Prime will be here Wednesday so not prioritising delivery for non essentials

AutumnDragon · 20/03/2020 11:23

I'm a seller on Amazon.

The article is aimed at Amazon Sellers, those that use Amazon to store and post their items (marked as Fulfilled by Amazon) rather than the marketplace sellers that fulfill their own orders. This is so that Amazon have more warehouse space for the essentials.

Deliveries may be slower as they are selling more items, there will be less choice of non essentials as these are the items that Amazon are no longer accepting. Some of the marketplace sellers may also temporarily stop selling if they are experiencing staff shortages.

But, on the whole, Amazon will continue to run.
